Ted Nugent weighing White House bid

Posted July 4, 2013

Ted Nugent is considering a bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, the rocker told The Washington Post.

"Things are just so wrong in the country now," Nugent said. "And I know that my answers would make things wonderful, unless you just refuse to produce, and then I'd recommend that you move to Canada. Or Illinois."
Nugent's wife, Shemane, told the paper that fans are "constantly asking him to run."

AP: Ohio tea party to use IRS to fight Medicaid

Posted July 3, 2013

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Tea party activists in Ohio want to turn an enemy — the Internal Revenue Service — into an ally as they fight continued efforts to expand Medicaid.

In a confidential email sent to fellow Ohio tea party leaders and obtained by The Associated Press, Tom Zawistowski laid out a strategy for invoking a little-known IRS provision that allows citizens to challenge executive salaries and the nonprofit statuses of charitable hospitals.

In a phone interview Tuesday, Zawistowski called it ‘‘hilarious’’ that tea party groups that came under extra scrutiny by the IRS are now using an IRS law to target others.

Study: Republicans Leaving Party Are Tired of 'Two Evils' Argument

Posted July 3, 2013

A new study by the Frontier Lab, a conservative market research group, found that Republican voters who leave the party do so because they are are tired of being told to vote Republican as the "lesser of two evils." The study, "Switching Behavior: Modeling disaffiliation from the Republican brand," is published on the group's website and applies scientific methods of qualitative research to the GOP's most urgent problem.

Unlike the official Republican National Committee (RNC) "autopsy," which was prepared by consultants and political figures using familiar campaign-season methods such as focus groups and polls, the Frontier Lab study applied a specific methodology from market research, Behavioral Event Modeling (BEM), to understand the specific decisions of a sample of 97 Republicans who had chosen to leave the party in recent years.

Supreme Court Marriage Decisions

Posted July 3, 2013

by Phyllis Schlafly
Founder and President of Eagle Forum

The Supreme Court decision on marriage, as Justice Antonin Scalia wrote in his dissent, "is an assertion of judicial supremacy over the people's Representatives in Congress and the Executive. It envisions a Supreme Court standing (or rather enthroned) at the apex of government, empowered to decide all constitutional questions, always and everywhere 'primary' in its role."

Scalia said this role would have been unrecognizable to those who wrote our Constitution. They knew the dangers of "primary" power and that's why they divided power into three branches of government.

State Department Spent $630K for Facebook Likes

Posted July 3, 2013

The State Department’s Bureau of International Information Programs spent $630,000 to get more “likes” on Facebook in order to stimulate interest in their product. The agency’s Inspector General said, "Many in the bureau criticize the advertising campaigns as 'buying fans' who may have once clicked on an ad or 'liked' a photo but have no real interest in the topic and have never engaged further."

Although the money raised the English-language Facebook page likes from 100,000 to more than 2 million and spiked the foreign-language pages to 450,000. The IG said it was not useful, as the target audience for the bureau is older than the youngsters registering “likes.”
As the report stated:

A Blow to Both Obamacare and the Rule of Law

Posted July 3, 2013

In a blatant exercise of arbitrary rule, the Obama administration announced this evening that it has unilaterally decided not to implement a key provision of Obamacare on schedule.  By law, Obamacare’s employer mandate — its requirement that businesses with 50 or more workers provide federally sanctioned health insurance — should go into effect next year.  By executive fiat, it won’t go into effect until 2015.

In addition to being a naked display of lawlessness, this action is an embarrassing setback to the Obama administration and — more importantly — to President Obama’s centerpiece legislation.  More than three years after Obamacare’s passage — a passage marked by such shady backroom deals as the Cornhusker Kickback, the Louisiana Purchase, and Gator Aid — the administration is now admitting it has failed to get Obamacare up and running on time.

Colorado recall efforts get ugly ahead of key ruling

Posted July 3, 2013

Recall efforts against two Colorado Democrats are reaching a fever pitch ahead of an expected ruling on Wednesday on whether a petition recalling Senate President John Morse contained the right language to proceed with an election.

Supporters of both Morse and state Sen. Angela Giron have argued that the petitions circulated in their districts — both of which were certified by the secretary of state to have had enough signatures to move forward — should be tossed out because they do not specify that there will be elections to replace the ousted lawmakers.

A hearing on Morse’s complaint was held last week and an opinion on the argument from the secretary of state’s office is expected by Wednesday, the same day the office will hold a hearing on Giron’s identical complaint.

Video: Abortion Supporters Chant "Hail Satan" at Pro-Life Women

Posted July 3, 2013

For a few hours yesterday afternoon, I thought wishing rape upon pro-life legislators and their families would represent rock bottom for the abortion zealots who've descended upon the Texas capitol to picket in favor of late-term abortion.  And then I heard about this.  There are no words:

Even Democrats Oppose Wendy Davis

Posted July 3, 2013 ~ Konni Burton

It's not every day I say "I agree with a Democrat", but today is that day.

One of the bright lights of Senator Davis's filibuster, followed by a mob hijacking of the democratic process, was the voice of reason that came from Senator Eddie Lucio. Now I'm sure as a State Senator I will have serious disagreements with Senator Lucio on certain policies but on this issue we stand together.

Defeat of local government transparency bills show Texas taxpayer betrayal

Posted July 3, 2013

Congratulations Texas Association of School Boards, Texas Association of School Administrators, Texas Municipal League, Texas Association of Counties and a host of other taxpayer-funded organizations that helped torpedo SB 14 and HB 14 during the 83rd Texas Legislature’s regular session, bills that would have provided taxpayers with new transparency regarding local government spending and debt.

Opposition to the legislation is understandable. It would have disrupted school districts, cities, counties and special purpose districts’ abilities to easily misrepresent existing debt obligations to constituents – the taxpayers responsible for that debt.

Straus Publicly Attacks Gov. Perry and Supports Pro-Abortion Wendy Davis

Posted July 2, 2013

Texas Speaker of the House Joe Straus has attacked Pro-Life Governor Rick Perry and defended pro-abortion State Senator Wendy Davis.

After the filibuster from Wendy Davis and the unruly mob that shut down the Texas State Senate, you would think that any pro-life leader in Texas would criticize either Davis or the mob. Not Joe Straus. Joe Straus criticized Governor Perry simply because Governor Perry gave a compliment to Wendy Davis and then tied the compliment into a very reasonable, fair point about Wendy Davis. There was nothing out of line said, and certainly nothing that would warrant the Speaker having a public opinion about it and attacking Governor Perry. Oh wait, I guess it would make sense for Straus to attack Perry given the fact that Joe Straus killed all the pro-life bills in regular session and Straus didn't want pro-life bills added to the special session either. Although he killed them in regular session, Straus cannot let the pro-life bills die in the special sessions with so many Republican supporters, but he will not, and I have never seen him, speak up and promote or advocate for the need to pass this or ANY other pro-life bill. If it happens it happens, but not with the help of the historically pro-abortion Joe Straus who has publicly stated that he believes abortion is a wedge issue and unimportant.

State Sen. Dr. Donna Campbell: The Texas Senator the Media Won't Lionize

Posted July 2, 2013

It may come as a shock to mainstream media consumers outside the Lone Star State, but Wendy Davis is not the only woman in Texas and her opinion is not shared by all, or even a majority, here.

To hear the mainstream media in full fawn mode since last week's filibuster, one might get the impression that state Sen. Wendy Davis is a lioness who leads all. The truth is, the bill she demagogued and mobbed to death last week, Senate Bill 5, was sponsored by a woman, state Rep. Jodie Laubenberg of Collin County.

A woman also led the fight to pass the bill in the Texas Senate. State Sen. Donna Campbell represents District 25 in central Texas. She comes to the Texas Senate with an educational and career background that would earn her fawning coverage from one end of this country to another, but for a couple of inconvenient facts.

Sen. Cruz Joins Tea Party Leaders to Call for Fundamental Tax Reform; Abolition of IRS

Posted July 2, 2013

HOUSTON, TX -- U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) today called for fundamental tax reform in order to abolish the IRS and put an end to its abuse of everyday American citizens. He urged Texans who believe they may have been targeted by the IRS to email irstarget@cruz.senate.gov.

"IRS targeting of American citizens is a threat and challenge, but also an inspiration," said Cruz. "It is an inspiration that these leaders are standing up. It is a threat that the federal government is targeting, not big corporations or lobbyists, but normal American citizens that are standing up for liberty. It is a challenge that we all face to limit the power of Washington."

Sen. Cruz called for the abolition of the IRS saying, "After these revelations of political targeting by the IRS, we need to padlock and shut down the building, abolish the IRS, and move to a flat tax or the FAIR Tax."

Tea party leaders that joined the Senator included:
Ken Emanuelson, Dallas Tea Party
Catherine Englebrecht, King Street Patriots & True the Vote
Robert “Gonzo” Gonzalez, Clear Lake Tea Party
Darcy Kahrhoff, Katy Tea Party
George Rodriguez, San Antonio Tea Party
Toby Marie Walker, Waco Tea Party

Dallas congregation cheers Cruz proposal to abolish IRS

Posted July 1, 2013

DALLAS — Sen. Ted Cruz got a standing ovation Sunday morning during an address to the congregation at First Baptist Dallas.

The Republican lawmaker was a guest speaker during the church's "Faith In America Today" series, in which Cruz discussed the responsibilities of Christians.

He also talked politics from the pulpit, offering examples of what he believes are intrusions on religious liberty — like the recent IRS scandal which revealed the taxing agency had targeted conservative groups.

Surprise! Only one quarter of Wendy Davis' online support came from Texas

Posted July 1, 2013

Why am I not surprised? Most of the support for Wendy Davis blocking the Texas Pro-Life bill came from OUTSIDE OF TEXAS. She does not represent the majority of Texans who are against killing innocent babies. She has to get her support from liberals outside of Texas!
