Stand with Louie Gohmert (Texas), Steve King and Michele Bachmann

Seventy House Republicans are planning a politically risky showdown with Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to try to force additional debate on an immigration bill they say will mean amnesty for illegal immigrants and have dire consequences for the country.

The mainstream media will not report on this brave action by our finest Representatives.

Or if they do they will give it a negative spin.

Please help to get this important report out to all of the thinking voters who you know.

Syrian rebels pledge loyalty to al-Qaeda

Posted June 14, 2013

BEIRUT — A Syrian rebel group's pledge of allegiance to al-Qaeda's replacement for Osama bin Laden suggests that the terrorist group's influence is not waning and that it may take a greater role in the Western-backed fight to topple Syrian President Bashar Assad.

The pledge of allegiance by Syrian Jabhat al Nusra Front chief Abou Mohamad al-Joulani to al-Qaeda leader Sheik Ayman al-Zawahri was coupled with an announcement by the al-Qaeda affiliate in Iraq, the Islamic State of Iraq, that it would work with al Nusra as well.

U.S.: Syria used chemical weapons, crossing "red line"

Posted June 14, 2013

The Obama administration has concluded that Syrian President Bashar Assad's government used chemical weapons against the rebels seeking to overthrow him and, in a major policy shift, President Obama has decided to supply military support to the rebels, the White House announced Thursday.

Lee: Immigration Bill Problems Go Far Beyond Border Security

Posted June 14, 2013

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) spoke out against the “Gang of 8” immigration bill. Many complain the bill puts amnesty ahead of border security, but Lee says there are bigger problems in the bill. Even if the border security part is strengthened, Lee claims four other parts remain weak.

The bill limits Congressional oversight of the executive branch, which allows the branch to enact the new laws in their preferred method. Congress is held accountable by the citizens and this bill keeps both out of the loop on immigration.

NSA will declassify some information on surveillance program

Posted June 14, 2013

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Michigan, said Thursday he will put forward information as soon as next week, “that I think will allow the American public to better understand,” the NSA surveillance, which was leaked last week by a government contractor.

Rogers made the pledge after the head of the National Security Agency told lawmakers at a closed-door hearing that the government is not eavesdropping on America’s phone calls or reading their emails.

Sebelius Requires Insurers Cover Planned Parenthood Clinics

In a move that sends the message that her role is a powerful one, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius has required health insurers to include Planned Parenthood as an “essential community provider” along with other doctors and health facilities in their networks.

Report: Gang of Eight will grant amnesty to criminals

Posted June 14, 2013

Contrary to Sen. John McCain’s claim that any illegal immigrant who has committed a crime in America will “be deported,” NRO’s Fred Bauer points out that as written, the immigration reform proposal only bars criminals from gaining legalization only after committing “3 or more misdemeanors.”

Additionally, the bill exempts many “minor” crimes from this “three-strike rule”:

Rubio votes with Democrats to kill border security before legalization

Posted June 14, 2013

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., voted with Senate Democrats today to kill an amendment by Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, that would have required the federal government to secure the border first before granting legalization to currently illegal immigrants.

All four Republican members of the bipartisan Gang of Eight immigration group voted for Majority Leader Harry Reid’s, D-Nev., motion to table the Grassley amendment.

Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., who said she would vote for the underlying bill this Sunday, voted with her Republican colleagues for the amendment. Sens. Mark Pryor, D-Ark., and Joe Manchin, D-W.V., also joined Republicans to vote for Grassley’s amendment.

Rubio’s vote is not that surprising since he told Univision this Sunday, “Let’s be clear. Nobody is talking about preventing the legalization. The legalization is going to happen. That means the following will happen: First comes the legalization. Then come the measures to secure the border.”

Revolt Among Republicans on Immigration Bill: 70 House Members Risk Careers in Planned Showdown With Leadership

Posted June 13, 2013

Seventy House Republicans are planning a politically risky showdown with Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to try to force additional debate on an immigration bill they say will mean amnesty for illegal immigrants and have dire consequences for the country.

The 70 members are petitioning for a special Republican conference meeting on the bill, a “highly unusual” move to go head-to-head with the speaker, according to Reps. Michele Bachmann (Minn.), Steve King (Iowa) and Louie Gohmert (Texas), who are serving as spokespersons for the group.

Bachmann, King and Gohmert told TheBlaze the group is invoking the Hastert Rule: requiring support from a majority of the majority to bring a bill forward.

The petition is expected to go to the House leadership on Friday, but it’s possible some signatories might remove their names due to political risk, or that Boehner could head off the challenge by striking a deal. Going against leadership in such a way could have harsh political consequences for the signatories, including retaliation such as permanently getting passed over for chairmanship positions.

A Boehner spokesman did not immediately return a request for comment.

During a Spanish-speaking interview last week with Univision, Marco Rubio made the following statement: “Let’s be clear. Nobody is talking about preventing legalizations. The legalization is going to happen. That means the following will happen: First comes the legalization. Then comes the measures to secure the border. And then comes the process of permanent residence.”

Whether or not the Republican Senator from Florida knew his comment would receive the amount of attention that it did, conservatives weren’t happy. And with good reason — it’s the exact opposite of what he’s been touting to the right since the immigration reform debate began. How many times was border security used as the prerequisite for amnesty? Countless.
Among the conservatives that are far less than pleased with Marco Rubio is Mr. Glenn Beck.

“Let me tell you something, Marco Rubio, I haven’t trusted you for quite some time.  Everybody’s been on this ‘Marco Rubio Bandwagon’. Why?” Glenn asked.

Bachmann says amnesty would end America as we know it

Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., has two dire warnings for America in an exclusive interview with WND.

* Don’t count on the House to stop amnesty.

* And, if amnesty passes it will end our constitutional republic as we know it.

Bachmann says she doesn’t want to sound alarmist but when you boil it down, that is what is really at stake.

She says there is one solution — only a grassroots effort can stop President Obama’s plan to fundamentally transform America.

So, she is issuing a call to arms to all WND readers and all Americans, contact your representatives in Congress to stop amnesty before it is too late.

Don't take your eyes off Benghazi

Posted June 10, 2013

The latest flurry of scandals flooding the media is merely a smokescreen to obscure the real scandal that could potentially bring down the Obama administration. The real scandal is Benghazi.

Do you remember Hilary Clinton's statement, "What difference at this point does it make?" Immediately after that, scandal after scandal, headline after headline, has been pushing Benghazi further and further from the front page. Put the focus back on Benghazi.

The group leading the charge to end the Benghazi cover-up is SOS (Special Operations Speaks).

Ted Cruz: Obama Assaulting Freedom on Every Front

Posted June 14, 2013

From IRS targeting to the PRISM program, the Obama administration has disregarded our most basic freedoms as part of a Nixonian campaign to discredit its political enemies, Sen. Ted Cruz said in a speech Thursday.

“Using the machinery of government to target your political enemies is wrong. It was wrong when Nixon did it, and it’s wrong now,” the Texas Republican told an audience at the Faith and Freedom Coalition.

Cruz characterized the nation’s current disagreements over religious freedom as part of an unbroken struggle waged since the days of the pilgrims.

The Cornyn Con

Posted June 13, 2013

The Big Fig: Texas Senator John Cornyn has finally released the long-awaited text of his “RESULTS” amendment, allegedly designed to strengthen the border security provisions in the “Gang of 8″ immigration legalization bill now before the Senate. Even before it was released, Cornyn’s amendment was derided by Gang-of-8 skeptics as a relatively insignificant change that would mainly give Republicans cover to vote for an amnesty bill. (‘See, we improved the border provisions.’) But Washington Examiner‘s Conn Carroll compares the text of Cornyn’s amendment with the language it replaces–and it turns out that the amendment isn’t as bad as feared. It’s worse!

Governor Rick Perry adds big Pro-Life bills to Texas Special Session

Posted June 12, 2013

The Texas regular legislative session ended less than a month ago. Unfortunately, all the big pro-life bills were killed by the leadership of Texas Speaker of the House Joe Straus. Joe Straus is not pro-life and has openly stated that abortion is not a serious issue and only a wedge issue. In fact, yesterday Joe Straus told the media that he had "no comment" when he learned about pro-life issues being added to the special session by Perry. Straus sure does not sound very excited about the bills that, if passed, would do things like prevent abortions after 20 weeks because of preborn pain and also force abortion facilities to have medical facility standards or shut down.

Sen. Cruz: I Very Much Want Commonsense Immigration Reform to Pass; This Bill Would Make the Problem of Illegal Immigration Worse

Posted June 12, 2013

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) spoke today on the Senate floor against the Motion to Proceed to immigration reform, arguing for major fixes to the proposal that would make it passable by both houses of Congress.

“I very much want commonsense immigration reform to pass,” Cruz said in his remarks. “As written, this bill will not pass into law. And if this bill did become law, it would not solve the problem. Indeed, it would make the problem of illegal immigration that we have today worse rather than better.”

Citizens Debate The Senate Immigration BillCitizens Debate the Senate Immigration Bill [Videos]

Posted June 11, 2013
by Dale Huls

The US Senate has been called the "world's greatest deliberative body". George Washington once said that the founders created the Senate to cool House legislation just as a saucer was used to "cool hot tea". Well, George was right, the Senate is certainly trying to "cool the hot Tea Parties" over the issue of immigration reform and border control. According to Madison, the "great anchor" of Government was to be a "necessary fence against the "fickleness and passion" that tended to sway House members and the general public.

Unfortunately, today's modern Senate is neither "deliberate" nor a "fence" with regards to the great issues of our time. In fact, this Senate has been acting more like children rather than the mature seasoned legislators they profess to be. Instead of addressing the issue with the American people, instead of working within the appropriate committees and regular order, today's Senate has devolved to a Gang of Six, a Gang of Eight or a Gang of some other grouping to craft legislation that can be forced through the controlling political parties bypassing our traditional legislative processes.

Sen. Cruz Statement on NSA Phone Surveillance

Posted June 10, 2013

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) today released the following statement regarding President Obama’s comments on the NSA’s gathering of Americans’ private phone records:

We should always be mindful of the need for government to have the tools necessary to keep Americans safe in a dangerous world, where there are enemies plotting to attack us. We have seen the face of that enemy time and again, most recently in the terrorist attacks at Fort Hood, Benghazi and Boston to name a few.

But on one hand the Obama Administration says this enemy is in retreat, yet on the other, they are implementing what appears to be an unprecedented and intrusive surveillance system on private American citizens in the name of guarding against that enemy. Just today, the president encouraged us to trust him on this – to trust that there are safeguards to ensure our privacy is protected, trust that there is a system of checks and balances to prevent an abuse of power. But in light of this Administration's track record, how can they expect to be trusted?

We have discovered over the past few months an ongoing pattern of wanton disregard not only for Americans' privacy, but for the truth – DOJ's refusal to be forthcoming about drone policy, IRS's targeting groups for their political beliefs and then misleading the American people about it, DOJ's targeting of journalists for doing their jobs, and now what seems an unprecedented intrusion into Americans' personal phone records and potentially into their broader online activities.

Americans trusted President Obama when he came to office promising the most transparent administration in history. But that trust has been broken and the only way to earn it back is to tell the truth. That's what Americans deserve. I will be working with my colleagues in the Senate who share my concerns to ensure that we have all the facts about these surveillance programs, and that our government is appropriately balancing concerns of national security with Americans' personal liberties.
