Manchin-Toomey 'Compromise' Creates $100m Yearly Grants To Bribe States

Posted April 15, 2013

The Background Check 'Compromise' put forward by Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Pat Toomey (R-PA) creates $100 million in grants for "each of fiscal years 2014 through 2017" for the federal government to disperse to states if those states implement the expanded background check system contained in the bill.

As Sec. 103 says, from this money amounts will be made available
by the State, or units of local government of the State, Indian Tribal government, or State Court system to improve the automation and transmittal of mental health records and criminal history dispositions, records relevant to determining whether a person has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, court orders, and mental health adjudications or commitments to Federal and State records repositories.

Machin-Toomey Background Check 'Compromise' Regulates Transportation of Firearms, Ammunition

Posted April 15, 2013

The background check 'compromise' put forth by Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Pat Toomey (R-PA) sets new rules for how individuals must transport firearms if taking them from one place to another.

These new rules are on top of expanding background checks to cover every sale at a gun show, events on the lawn outside the building where a gun show is being held, newspaper and magazine "gun for sale" advertisements, and online "gun for sale" announcements.
Regarding transportation, Sec. 128  of the Manchin-Toomey "compromise" says persons who are not knowingly transporting a firearm for use in a crime nor transporting it into a situation where a crime may be committed, shall be "entitled" to "transport a firearm in a vehicle" if:
The firearm is not directly accessible from the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle; or if the motor vehicle is without a compartment separate from the passenger compartment, the firearm is in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console, or secured by a secure gun storage or safety device, or if the transportation is by other means, the firearm is in a locked container or secured by a secure gun storage or safety device.

International Baccalaureate World Schools: The Radical Transformation of America’s Classrooms

Posted April 15, 2013

Liberal education has been very successful in this country because nobody challenged the progressive educators and their agenda. We are waking up to the unraveling of our society caused by this liberal education and wondering, what happened. Could it be too late to reverse the damage?

Conservative news outlets are pointing out the obvious—our children have been indoctrinated into socialism for 33-40 years and this indoctrination is finally bearing fruit. We have bred a nation of young, entitled citizens who do not like to work, do not like to read or study anything too involved or complicated that exceeds Twitter’s 140 words, do not take responsibility for their actions, exhibit righteous indignation if their demands are not met, claim racism and hate speech if others disagree with them, and are afraid of their shadows.

Students no longer explore and discuss the history of America even in the History Department of the local college—it has long been replaced by courses that praise and promote sexual, “racial and ethnic differences,” instead of highlighting our common American heritage, what made America great and an exceptional nation that has contributed to the betterment of mankind. Socialist professors admire, teach, and laud the history of non-western cultures as superior to our own culture.

ObamaCare Exchanges Costs Double

Posted April 12, 2013

As a number of Republican governors continue to say “no” to Obamacare, the U.S. Health and Human Services Department (HHS) on Wednesday acknowledged that the president’s signature healthcare law is racking up twice the costs to set up the all-important insurance exchanges.
HHS more than doubled its previous cost estimate of $2 billion for the amount it expects to spend to help states set up insurance exchanges, which is a central component of Obamacare.

The agency now expects to spend $4.4 billion by the end of the year, reports The Hill.

Clarence Thomas: 'My Heart Is Broken' for Black America

Posted April 12, 2013

Justice Thomas said that the Catholic sisters who taught him as a boy in Georgia drove home one point: “We were told under all circumstances that we were inherently equal,” he said, adding that he’s always been perplexed by people who assume he should think a certain way because he’s black. “My family was not inferior. I have never believed it and I never will.”
Thomas admitted that he just doesn't like politics. “I don’t know how you tell somebody something that is obviously wrong, and you make them believe it,” he said, to laughter from the crowd.

Conservatives Threaten 'Revolt' if Boehner Rushes Immigration Bill Through House

Posted April 12, 2013

Representative Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) said at a Thursday press conference that House Republicans will rise up against GOP leadership if House Speaker John Boehner tries to rush any immigration reform bill through his chamber of Congress.

“There would be a revolt among Republicans” if Boehner abandoned regular order on this issue, Rohrabacher said in response to a question from Breitbart News at the presser.
According to a recent Politico report, Boehner is seriously considering abandoning regular order to rush through immigration reform. Regular orders is the process by which a bill is supposed to come up through the respective committees of jurisdiction and allow members of those committees to offer amendments, an open and transparent process that then is supposed to continue on the House floor.

Constitutional Experts Support Texas Religious Freedom Amendment

Posted April 15, 2013

A group of distinguished religious liberty and constitutional experts, including leading law professors from Harvard, Notre Dame, Stanford, University of Texas, St. Mary’s and others, have released a letter in support of the Texas Religious Freedom Amendment (HJR 110 and SJR 4). They argue that putting the protection in our state constitution will give our religious freedom protection “greater visibility and greater insulation from shifting political majorities.” Read the letter.

"Obama Will Let Me Go"

Posted April 15, 2013

The debate in Washington on immigration reform has had no political impact, but the debate is having a major impact on south Texas, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Officials say the number of people entering the U.S. illegally is way up and, tragically, the number of undocumented immigrants who have been found dead in the unforgiving Texas Brush Country is way up, and is on path this year to beat last year's record for the number of people found dead in the ranch country.

Linda Vickers, who owns a ranch in Brooks County, which is Ground Zero for the immigration debate, pins the blame directly on talk of 'amnesty' and a 'path to citizenship' for people who entered the U.S. illegally.

She recalls one man being arrested on her ranch not long ago.

"The Border Patrol agent was loading one man up, and he told the officer in Spanish, 'Obama's gonna let me go'."

Austin ISD Approves Same-Sex Benefits

Posted April 15, 2013

Austin ISD, under the direction of Superintendent Meria Carstarphen, has announced that the district would join Pflugerville ISD in beginning to offer same-sex domestic partnership benefits. We have argued in detail that the creation and recognition of “domestic partnerships” by any governmental entity is a clear violation of the Texas Constitution. Earlier this week, Texas Values testified in favor of HB 1568 by Rep. Springer that would essentially eliminate the healthcare funding for any school district that seeks to offer these benefits. Texas House District 5 Considering Texas Independence

Posted April 12, 2013

A mass meeting of Texas House District 5 voters,  hosted by the Tea Party of Rains County, was held in the Rutledge Room of the Best Western Plus located at 1026 E. Lennon Drive, Emory, Texas on April 9, 2013.

The only item for discussion was whether Texas voters should exert the powers reserved to the people under Article 1, Section 2 of the Texas Constitution in order to address the Texas government for its continued failure to affirm and uphold the sovereignty of Texas as declared in Article 1, Section 1 of the Texas Constitution, or our individual rights as established in our Bill of Rights in both the Texas and U.S. Constitutions.

Find Out Why Sen. Ted Cruz Thinks Obama Has ‘Set the Stage’ for GOP to Take Control of the Senate in 2014

Posted April 12, 2013

During an interview with Laura Ingraham on her radio program Wednesday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) slammed President Barack Obama for “trying to take advantage” of the tragic Newtown shooting to push gun control. He also predicted that the administration’s quest to impose stricter gun laws will come back to haunt them in 2014.

Toll agency seeks sweeping new powers, lawmakers detect misrepresentation

Posted April 12, 2013

“This is a clean-up bill,” spouted the North Texas Tollway Authority’s (NTTA) bond counsel, Frank Stevenson II, one of the agency’s ‘legacy contractors,’ Locke Lord, LLP, who crafted House Bill 2247 that grants the authority expansive new powers.

To which Texas State Representative Yvonne Davis replied, “Aren’t you asking for new authority in this bill? You’re telling us this bill doesn’t give you any new authority, but there’s an awful lot of new language in here...If you already have this authority, why do you need this bill?”

Stevenson proceeded to dodge the question in a dicey back-and-forth exchange that lasted for more than 30 minutes in the House Transportation Committee this week before he finally admitted the agency would indeed be granted new authority. NTTA attorneys were accused of misrepresenting the intent of the bill, trying to dismiss grassroots concerns that the bill granted the agency new powers that would decidedly shift the toll authority away from traditional turnpikes and into the world of ‘innovative financing’ gimmicks designed to extract heaps of public money from unknowing taxpayers to subsidize toll projects that are NOT toll viable.

Police, ‘anti-gun’ prosecutor clash with soldiers in area around Fort Hood [VIDEO]

Posted April 12, 2013

The conflict between law enforcement and armed military personnel in the community around Fort Hood, one of America’s largest military bases, has recently and repeatedly involved the issue of gun control — and the tension has been exacerbated in part by an Obama-supporting prosecutor described as a “bandleader” of anti-gun efforts in the heavily conservative community.

The conflict reached a fever pitch last month, when Texas police arrested an active-duty army sergeant for “rudely displaying” a hunting rifle. The sergeant, C.J. Grisham, established an online legal defense fund after he was, in his words, “illegally arrested and disarmed” for carrying the firearm.
