Air Force’s Air Defense Radar Systems along U.S./Mexico Border will SHUTDOWN on March 15th, 2013

Posted February 1, 2013

On January 17th, 2013, Exelis Systems Corporation sent out an email (see email below) to all of its employees informing them that on March 15th, 2013 all TARS Air Defense Mission Operations will permanently cease. These TARS Air Defense sites were under the control of the United States Air Force. On January 15th, 2013, the Air Force informed Exelis (the defense contractor running the TARS sites) that the TARS sites will be shut down. Exelis tried to then negotiate with the Department of Homeland Security to see if they would take over the vital project, but it seems as though those negotiations have failed. What does this mean?

Schumer redefines immigration deal, cuts out Rubio’s insistence on border security

Posted February 1, 2013

New York Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer on Monday applauded Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio for helping craft a blueprint for a bipartisan rewrite of immigration law.

But on Thursday, Schumer dropped a political anvil on him by gutting his part of the overhaul.

Rubio joined Schumer’s Jan. 28 announcement of deal because it was built on Rubio’s proposal to pair citizenship awards for roughly 11 million illegal immigrants to an independent group that would declare when the border is secured.

IRS: Cheapest Obamacare Plan Will Be $20,000 Per Family

Posted February 1, 2013

(CNSNews.com) – In a final regulation issued Wednesday, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) assumed that under Obamacare the cheapest health insurance plan available in 2016 for a family will cost $20,000 for the year.

Under Obamacare, Americans will be required to buy health insurance or pay a penalty to the IRS.

The IRS's assumption that the cheapest plan for family will cost $20,000 per year is found in examples the IRS gives to help people understand how to calculate the penalty they will need to pay the government if they do not buy a mandated health plan.

House committees investigate whether the IRS illegally expanded tax subsides to strengthen Obamacare

Two House committees are investigating whether the IRS illegally implemented an important provision of Obamacare.

House Ways and Means Committee chairman Dave Camp (R., Mich.) and Oversight Committee chairman Darrell Issa (R., Calif.) sent a letter on Tuesday to the acting secretary of the Treasury Department and the acting commissioner of the IRS requesting documents and interviews with specific officials.

The two committees are investigating how the IRS decided to implement a specific tax credit created in the Obamacare legislation. The bill allows the federal government to provide a tax credit to certain individuals who purchase health insurance in healthcare exchanges created by the states.

However, the Department of the Treasury and the IRS have implemented a final rule that applies this tax credit to individuals who buy health insurance in exchanges created by the federal government, not the states.

Menendez Donor Melgen Financed Clintons, Wasserman Schultz, GOP Pols

Posted February 1, 2013

Federal Election Commission records show that Dr. Salomon Melgen, the Miami ophthalmologist connected to New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez’s alleged prostitution scandal, has financed several high-ranking politicians from both political parties.

Melgen has supported Republicans, too. He and his wife donated $10,000 to Florida Republican Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart over the years and $9,800 to his fellow Florida Republican, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.

US Senate Shoots Down Bid to Halt Sales of F-16s, Tanks to Egypt

Posted February 1, 2013

(CNSNews.com) – The U.S. Senate Thursday defeated an amendment that aimed to prevent the Obama administration from transferring F-16 fighter aircraft and Abrams tanks to an Egypt in disarray.

A vote to block the measure proposed by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) – an amendment to the debt limit bill – passed by a 79–19 vote.

In a strong-worded floor statement Paul questioned the wisdom of providing the sophisticated weaponry at a time when “many see Egypt descending into chaos.”

He based his argument on the Egyptian government’s conduct, President Mohammed Morsi’s expressed radical views, and the possibility that the weapons could be used in a future conflict against Israel.

Kansas Latest State to Take on Unions

Posted February 1, 2013

Kansas is the latest state to seek to curb union power; on Wednesday, a preliminary vote in the Kansas legislature approved the Paycheck Protection Act aimed at eliminating automatic dues collection for unions. The measure was passed on Thursday by the State House of Representatives.

The new bill passed, 68-56, on a mostly party-line vote. The Wednesday vote was only preliminary, but the final vote today exceeded the 63 votes needed to pass the bill. Three Republicans in favor of the measure were reportedly absent during the Wednesday vote.

If approved by the state senate, the new law would prevent public sector employees from using automatic deductions to fund union political action committees. Union members could still write a check for those dues, but they would no longer be collected by the state.

Huffington Post reports that a similar bill passed the Kansas house in 2011 but stalled in the Senate. However, since then the state Senate has become more conservative.

CSCOPE Hearing Analysis

Posted February 1, 2013

by Donna Garner

Today’s Texas Senate Education Committee hearing  on CSCOPE was amazing. I watched the proceedings online from 8:30 A. M. until it finished around 3:15 P. M., and I took notes as fast as I could type. These may not be word-for-word, but I trust that I have captured the essence of the hearing.

Texas Senator Dan Patrick led the hearing, and these are the Senators who worked alongside him to question the witnesses:  Donna Campbell, Larry Taylor, Eddie Lucio, Robert Duncan, Ken Paxton, and Kel Seliger.  (As best I could tell from online viewing, Royce West and Leticia Van de Putte did not attend the hearing.)

What thrilled me is that all of us private citizens who have dug out the truth about CSCOPE and who have been vilified for our efforts were vindicated today because the evidence presented proved we were right all along.

Texas Bill Provides Tax Breaks to Companies Violating Obamacare Contraception Mandate

Posted February 1, 2013

A Texas legislator introduced a state bill that would provide tax breaks to companies who intentionally violate Obama’s health care act by refusing to cover emergency contraception.

The tax break would be the same amount as the federal fine that companies are required to pay for violating the Affordable Health Care Act, or the total amount that companies pay in state taxes.

CCRKBA applauds Sen. Cruz for blasting Emanuel’s anti-2A tactics

Posted January 31, 2013

BELLEVUE, WA – The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today congratulated Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) for a letter he sent to bank officials and two major firearms manufacturers that blasts the strong arm tactics of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who is pressuring the banks to cut off lines of credit to gun makers.

In his letter to officials at Bank of America and TC Bank, and the CEOs of Sturm, and Smith & Wesson, Sen. Cruz observed, “We (in Texas) do not accept the notion that government officials should behave like bullies, trying to harass or pressure private companies into enlisting in a political lobbying campaign.” He sent a copy of the letter to Mayor Emanuel.

“We really appreciate Sen. Cruz for weighing in on this controversy,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, who issued a blistering critique of Emanuel’s demagoguery earlier Tuesday. “He’s got the kind of backbone one expects of a Texan, and he’s drawn a line in the sand that’s every bit as bold as the one Col. Travis drew at the Alamo.”

Questions & Answers About Texas Independence

Posted January 30, 2013

There are many questions regarding Texas independence that come up often and need to be addressed in order to separate fact from fiction. The Texas Nationalist Movement led by Daniel Miller has put together a compilation of those questions and the answers to them and we will be posting them here for your convenience.

Is secession legal?

It is not illegal to withdraw from membership in the Union as no law exists which makes it illegal nor could one exist and be congruent with the fundamental construction of the Union. Were secession of a state from the United States declared illegal it would so fundamentally alter the nature of the relationship of the states that the very act of doing so would serve to end the Union.

More FAQs at the Texas Nationalist Movement.
