Mr. Romney – Get Busy, Sir!

Mr. Romney, you were not the first choice of all conservative Tea Partiers and Republicans, but all have come to embrace your candidacy. We were not all happy when you attacked good people like Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich but, realizing that our Republican candidate would have to go up against a street fighter, we were encouraged that you seemed to posses these skills. Yet it seems you are unable to find a flaw in either the policies or the character of Mr. Obama. Perhaps I can help.

Foreign Policy – The Islamic Middle East is coming apart. Other areas in which Islam has influence are seeing riots. We have one dead Ambassador and three of his aides have also been murdered. The President blames (which is his habit) and has arrested without explanation, an amateur film maker. The President claims that the riots are spontaneous and inspired by the film maker’s yet-to-be-released film. Obama’s UN ambassador claims that the riots do not reflect any criticism of either America or of this President’s policies. Yet American flags and effigies of this President are burned in the streets of over 20 Islamic countries. His Secretary of State claims that this is the work of a small number of malcontents, yet we have seen massive, violent demonstrations which span the globe. Our murdered diplomats were attacked from two sides with heavy weapons, indicating some sort of command and control structure was used. It is highly unlikely this is the result of “spontaneous rioting.” And coincidentally, this all started on 9-11. Iran is about to go nuclear, our enemies no longer fear us and our allies no longer trust us. You might wish to comment on this.

The US economy – Due to the magic of statistics, this President claims an unemployment rate of just above 8%. In good times this country’s unemployment rate is under 5%. In truth, our current real unemployment is in excess of 11% and in minority communities, where skills and education are lacking, the number is much higher. Fewer people are employed today than when this President took office and yet he claims that millions of new jobs have been created. Just to keep pace with population growth, our economy must produce in excess of 150,000 net new jobs each month.  Our credit rating has, for the first time in US history, been downgraded – TWICE. The Fed has adopted a policy of creating money out of debt, quaintly referred to as quantitative easing, which acts as a price support at a time when many out of work have little money to purchase necessities. Price reductions in this environment would be welcome; yet the very existence of inflation, obvious to us all, is denied. A similar policy of price supports extended the Great Depression by years. The solution proposed by this President is to raise taxes. Historically, raising taxes has always acted to slow economic growth and has been used to tap the brakes on a runaway economy. The effects of raising taxes on an economy which is stuck in reverse would be disastrous. In just 40 months this President has increased our national debt by over 60%. An interesting side note is that Obama won the election by promising to IMPROVE all these numbers. You might wish to comment on this.

The President’s administration – This is an imperial Presidency usurping the authority of the Congress to make law replacing it with a barrage of executive orders unimpeded by public opinion. Through court actions, this President has usurped the sovereignty of the state to secure their borders and to ensure valid elections. He has imposed interstate regulations on intrastate activity through a massive regulatory bureaucracy. Despite promises of transparency, unread bloated laws are rammed through Congress and all the President’s personal records are sealed. This President has used military facilities to promote activities offensive to the local moral standards. He has offended our most dependable allies while pandering to global elements determined to see our destruction. This administration is currently under investigation for covering up a scandalous gun-running scheme in which an American border patrol agent was murdered along with countless foreign nationals. The Justice Department has been converted into a Just Us department consisting of Eric Holder and the President hand picking cases for political advantage. You might wish to comment on this.

Now you appear to be bogged down defending a factually challenged statement you inartfully made months ago. Get off of it. I saw more robust campaigning during the candidacy of Bob Dole. By running, you requested we put our trust and faith in you. We have done that through our dollars and our determination. Many are working at considerable personal expense to get you elected on the off chance that you might be able to save this country from an imminent disaster. We have a right to demand you show up, step up, and speak up. We cannot win this election without you. We are behind you but you need to get in front of us – NOW.

Mr. Romney, it is time you got busy, sir.

Terrell AronSpeer ~ Born in 1947 under an assumed name. I moved to Texas at age 3 and brought my entire family with me. I majored in economics at the University of Houston. My entire corporate career was spent in high tech engineering starting as an apprentice and ending my career as director of Customer Service for a multinational rapid prototyping corporation which I took from a garage shop through its IPO in under two years. My first involvement in politics was in 1952 working in the Eisenhower campaign. Since then I have worked in every Presidential race to date and in most off year elections as well. Except for a brief flirtation with the Libertarian Party in its formative years, I have always worked in Republican politics. I was asked to speak at the first Tea Party event from the court house steps here in Quitman. It was my first public speaking experience. I looked at the Tea Party movement as fresh troops to help restore Republican values to a broken Republican Party. In retirement I have become a writer, mostly humor and political commentary. Currently I am writing three books. One is near completion; a short piece of political satire. One is a three volume political tome detailing the history of the political parties, economic and monetary policy, and the application of conservative principles to current political issues. The other is the hopefully humorous story of my journey through cancer. I also edit, the “Sentinel”, the Lake Country Republican Club’s newsletter. The local Master Gardeners association took first in state for their newsletter which I edited. In addition I was honored to be the assistant editor to Michael Kinzie with his landmark newsletter “Tea Party 911.” Once again I am honored to be invited back as a guest blogger.
