Conservative Leadership Council of Wood County Formed

At the invitation of the “Lake Country Republican Club,” the Presidents of all known conservative organizations in Wood County met at the May meeting of LCRC to form a county wide leadership council.  In attendance, from left to right were LCRC President, Greg Bowen; “Lake Fork Tea Party President” and acting President for “Wood County Tea Party Patriots,” Mike Kinzie; President of “Wood County We The People,” Tim Discher; President of the “Republican Women of Wood County,” Shirley Haskins; and President of the “Holly Lake Hawkins Republican Club,” Charles Caffery.  In all, six clubs were represented.

The focus of the various Republican clubs is primarily education, promoting the conservative agenda and the Founders vision, with the RWWC emphasizing charitable works and direct contact with elected representatives.  The Tea Party organizations are activist groups focused on getting the best candidates and holding them accountable.  WCWTP defines its role as a watchdog group which has focused on local issues in the schools as well as State programs which receive Federal funding.

All have agreed to promote and support each other’s activities, to work to ensure that the best candidates are elected, and to hold our elected officials accountable to the philosophy of Constitutionally limited government and fiscal responsibility.  The Council will meet at least twice monthly and use the resources and influence of the combined membership to provide candidate forums and other activities of mutual benefit.  The membership of each group is encouraged to consider membership in some or all of the other groups, and meetings of each will be scheduled to reduce conflict where possible.

Wood County Conservative GroupsIt is the hope of the Council that similar moves toward cooperation are occurring nationwide and that the CLCWC is inspirational in this movement.
