Alinsky Rule 5 (Ridicule the opposition.) Post 28:

Virginia U.S. Senator Mark Warner (D) made news recently by offering to trade national secrets for wine.

According to the Boston Globe, the Vice Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, while attending a Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee fund-raising party in Martha’s Vineyard, said to fellow reveler, “If you get me one more glass of wine, I’ll tell you stuff only Bob Mueller and I know.”

According to the Globe, Warner added, within earshot of about 100 guests, “If you think you’ve seen wild stuff so far, buckle up.  It’s going to be a wild couple of months.”

Two confidential sources report having overheard a luncheon meeting involving several of the Senator’s Capitol Hill staffers at a D.C. eatery. The staff was discussing a fund-raising effort being planned to enhance donations to the Senator’s campaign war chest, and satisfy his thirst for fine wines.

The ease-dropping sources describe what they heard as a money-making scheme that involves offering a menu of wines that, based on their value, will determine what secrets they’ll receive from Warner in return.  It will be called “Mark’s Secrets for Wine.”

The following partial menu of offerings recently leaked from a volunteer worker in Warner’s Richmond, Virginia’s office.
