As the votes from the Saddle Up Texas Straw poll were tallied on Saturday, Texas State Senate hopeful Tammy Blair, was the clear favorite among conservative Texans. Blair received 63.6% of the votes cast, while incumbent Senator Robert Nichols had a pitiful showing, receiving only 36.4% of the vote in this two person match-up.

The Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll was held on January 12-14, 2012 at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas. This event was organized by various TEA Party and grassroots organizations in order to give conservative Texans a more prominent voice in national politics. The event featured numerous conservative heavy weights including Andrew Breitbart of Breitbart TV and BigGovernment.com, former Presidential candidate Herman Cain, FreedomWorks’ Dick Armey, and Constitutional Attorney and conservative speaker KrisAnne Hall.
