Zimmerman Not Guilty but...

DOJ to Investigate Zimmerman for Federal Civil Rights Charges

Posted July 15, 2013

On Sunday afternoon, the Obama Department of Justice announced that it would pursue investigation into George Zimmerman.

That announcement came just hours after Zimmerman was acquitted for second-degree murder and manslaughter in the killing of Trayvon Martin, and within one day of the NAACP calling on the DOJ for an investigation.

Durbin gets a Republican challenger in Doug Truax

Posted July 15, 2013

Illinois Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin has a challenger for his 2014 re-election campaign.

Republican Doug Truax, a West Point graduate who now runs a strategic risk consulting firm, will officially announce his candidacy on Monday.

"At West Point, one of the first things they taught us is that you change battlefield strategies if they continually fail," Truax said in a statement. "Business owners and families also know this but amazingly, in Illinois and Washington, career politicians like Dick Durbin continue to make the same tax-and-spend policy decisions without regard to results."

Greg Abbott officially announces he's running for Texas governor

Posted July 15, 2013

SAN ANTONIO — Republican Greg Abbott looked out Sunday on a downtown plaza full of supporters and saw an unbroken field to becoming Texas’ next governor.

On the anniversary of his greatest misfortune, the state attorney general proclaimed his highest ambition to serve as governor. He promised to represent average Texans, pledging a continuation of his principles on guns, grit and greatness.

“Just as I’ve been a voice for liberty and the Constitution, I’ll be a voice for you,” Abbott said.

Pro-life Victory in Texas: Senate Passes Late-Term Abortion Ban

Posted July 15, 2013

We knew this was coming for quite some time despite vile protestations and hours-long filibusters. Fox News has the details:

The Texas Senate late Friday passed tough new abortion restrictions after weeks of protests, sending them to Gov. Rick Perry to sign into law.

The vote came after weeks of protests and rallies drew thousands to the Capitol and made Texas the focus of the national abortion debate.

Republicans used their majority to pass the bill nearly three weeks after a filibuster by Democratic Sen. Wendy Davis and an outburst by abortion-rights supporters in the Senate gallery disrupted a deadline vote.

Called back for a new special session by Perry, lawmakers took up the bill again as thousands of supporters and opponents held rallies and jammed the Capitol to testify at public hearings.

In a statement released just after the vote, Perry said, "Today the Texas Legislature took its final step in our historic effort to protect life. This legislation builds on the strong and unwavering commitment we have made to defend life and protect women's health."

Texas Legislature Passes Pro-Life Bill; Pro-Aborts Promise Challenge

Posted July 15, 2013

The Texas State Senate followed up House passage of a pro-life bill that would ban abortion after the 20th week of pregnancy, and pro-abortion activists have promised a court battle after Gov. Rick Perry's expected signature on the new law early next week. As reported earlier by The New American, the legislature had already passed the law in late June, but Perry was prevented from signing the bill before the end of the legislature's first special session on June 25 because of the actions of a nearly lawless pro-abortion mob at the State Capitol.

A similar mob threatened proceedings on July 12, with Texas State troopers hauling away several unruly pro-abortion screamers who attempted to disrupt the debate. The Senate's Republican majority finally passed the bill just before midnight, with all but one Democrat casting their votes against the commonsense mother-and-child protection measure.

“Today the Texas Legislature took its final step in our historic effort to protect life,” announced Gov. Perry, who vowed to quickly sign the bill into law. “This legislation builds on the strong and unwavering commitment we have made to defend life and protect women's health.”

Pro-Life Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott Running for Governor

Posted July 15, 2013

Pro-life Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott made it official today, saying he will run for governor and seek the GOP nomination to replace pro-life Governor Rick Perry, who is not planning to run again next year.

Prior to assuming the office of attorney general, Abbott was a justice on the Texas Supreme Court and was appointed by former Texas governor and President George W. Bush.

“When it comes to our freedom and our future, I will never – I will never stop fighting,” he said during an announcement in San Antonio.

A Changing of the Guard in Texas: Greg Abbott for Governor

Posted July 15, 2013

Today in San Antonio the biggest handoff in the Lone Star State since 2001 is taking place. Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is announcing his 2014 run for Governor.

After his 2000 presidential victory, Texas Governor George W. Bush passed the reins to Rick Perry, a man who has taken the Texas Governor’s office from one of the weaker positions in the country to one of the strongest. As Rick Perry rides off into the sunset next year, the man who may be the most pivotal Attorney General in recent Texas history, Greg Abbott is stepping into the saddle in the race for Governor of the Lone Star State.

Attorney General Abbott has become an expert at challenging the Obama administration, filing suit against this regime to fight for the liberties of Texans and the rest of America as well. He has battled Obama’s over-reaching EPA whose war on fossil fuels could ruin not only the strong Texas economy, but that of other key energy producing states as well. The states that are helping to bring our economy back from the brink.

Abbott fought against Obamacare, filing suit against the law the day it was signed by the President. He has held Washington’s feet to the fire to protect the Second Amendment rights that we all hold so dear, especially in the face of a government whose menacing grip becomes tighter by the day.

Second Amendment Revoked: The Unbelievable Reason Why This Army Vet Can’t Own a Gun

Posted July 12, 2013

An Army veteran in Texas is fighting for his Second Amendment rights after learning that a misdemeanor pot conviction from 1971 has disqualified him from ever owning a gun.

Ron Kelly, who retired from the Army in 1993 after 20 years of service, was recently turned away when he tried to buy a .22-cal rifle at a Wal-Mart in Tomball, Texas, after a computerized background check flagged the 42-year-old arrest. The story was on the front page of the Houston Chronicle on Wednesday.

Kelly said he had forgotten about his minor pot violation from high school — the federal government, on the other hand, has not.

The Army vet spent one night in jail and was given one year of probation. Though he didn’t realize it at the time, he was also apparently stripped of his Second Amendment rights for a lifetime.

GUILTY! Lumberton Councilman Don Burnett's Committee FINED by Texas for ILLEGAL $25,000 from Walmart (bribe?)

Posted July 12, 2013

Lumberton City Councilmen Don Burnett and Andy Kelley have had their political committee fined for serious violations of the law.

I filed the complaint months ago with the State of Texas Ethics Commission. This week I got a letter in the mail from the Texas Ethics Commission. The State of Texas concluded that the councilmen's committee, Keep Dollars in Lumberton Committee, violated Texas law by accepting $25,000 from Walmart and giving it to Texas Petition Strategies. The financial transaction was illegal because it was a behind the scenes massive money exchange that was done before the committee was even formed. It is illegal for a committee to accept or expend such a large amount of money without having first formed the political action committee.

Video: Abortion Supporters Chant "Hail Satan" at Pro-Life Women

Posted July 3, 2013

For a few hours yesterday afternoon, I thought wishing rape upon pro-life legislators and their families would represent rock bottom for the abortion zealots who've descended upon the Texas capitol to picket in favor of late-term abortion.  And then I heard about this.  There are no words:
