The Carbonated President

Obama unveils a war on fossil fuels he never disclosed as a candidate.

Posted June 26, 2013

President Obama's climate speech on Tuesday was grandiose even for him, but its surreal nature was its particular hallmark. Some 12 million Americans still can't find work, real wages have fallen for five years, three-fourths of Americans now live paycheck to check, and the economy continues to plod along four years into a quasi-recovery. But there was the President in tony Georgetown, threatening more energy taxes and mandates that will ensure fewer jobs, still lower incomes and slower growth.

Enough Is Enough… ‘Gang of 8′ Members Jeff Flake & John McCain Face Recall Petitions

Posted June 25, 2013

A new website is asking Arizona residents for their signatures to recall Senators Jeff Flake and John McCain for supporting the immigration-amnesty bill.

The website even has an easy name to remember – SenatorJeffFlake.com

And this is from shameless Senator John McCain’s recall page:
Do you remember this? McCain’s “Complete the Danged Fence”? In June 2013, McCain showed us his true colors and voted against building the 700 mile-long fence (that was required by previous law in 2006).

Sebelius said the football league has been "very actively and enthusiastically engaged" in discussions about a partnership to encourage people to enroll in newly available insurance plans.

Breaking News: Florida Patriot Groups feel betrayed by Senator Rubio - Withdraw Support

Posted June 24, 2013

Conservative organizations throughout Florida met in Orlando this weekend. After the meeting these patriot groups have united in withdrawing support from Senator Marco Rubio over a string of broken promises made to the American people regarding Immigration.

In an April 16, 2013 letter from the Senator to Florida Patriot Groups, he pledged to not support legislation that is rushed through Congress, does not truly and legitimately secure our borders or that leads to further illegal immigration in the future. In a “Dear Friends” letter Rubio states, “First, there is absolutely no truth to the idea that l will support any immigration legislation that is rushed through Congress in typical Washington fashion.”

“The current bill, current amendment and the rush to ram the bill through the Senate by week’s end violate this letter and  earlier public statements by the Senator,” says Pat Wayman from the Venice 912 Group. “This bill will forever be known as the Rubio Amnesty bill.

Where Was the Tea Party in 2012?

Posted June 24, 2013

One of the great questions about the 2012 campaign has been “Where was the tea party?” They were not the fierce force they’d been in the 2010 cycle, when Republicans took back the House. Some of us think the answer to the question is: “Targeted by the IRS, buried under paperwork and unable to raise money.”

The economist Stan Veuger, on the American Enterprise Institute‘s blog, takes the question a step further.

The Democrats had been badly shaken by the Republican comeback of 2010. They feared a repeat in 2012 that would lose them the White House.

Might targeting the tea-party groups—diverting them, keeping them from forming and operating—seem a shrewd campaign strategy in the years between 2010 and 2012? Sure. Underhanded and illegal, but potentially effective.

Five things GOP needs to win Massachusetts Senate race

Posted June 24, 2013

Massachusetts voters head to the polls Tuesday for a special election between Democrat Rep. Ed Markey and Republican businessman Gabriel Gomez. The winner gets to fill the remainder of Secretary of State John Kerry's Senate term.

Republicans rarely win elections in Kennedy country, a place where Michael Dukakis was actually elected governor three times. But it has happened often enough to establish what it would take for Gomez to beat the odds — and beat Markey. Here are five things the Republicans must do.

Becky Gerritson says she is not a Republican or a Democrat, but rather an independent who has only been active in politics since 2008.

Last month, Gerritson became the face and voice of those tea partiers who were victimized by the Internal Revenue Service when the powerful government agency targeted tea party and other conservative groups.

Senator Wendy Davis kills bill and babies in Texas

Posted June 26, 2013

Dewhurst declares abortion bill dead, blames 'unruly mob'

Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst returned to the Senate floor at 3:01 a.m., banged the gavel and announced that, “regrettably, the constitutional time expired” on the special session.

Senate Bill 5 cannot be signed because it passed after midnight, he said.

After making his announcement, Dewhurst paused, then added: “It’s been fun, but, uh, see you soon.”

The crowds in the Capitol, loudly cheering early word that the bill had failed, let loose with another rousing cheer when told that it was official.

Speaking to reporters afterward, Dewhurst said he was furious about the night’s events.

“An unruly mob, using Occupy Wall Street tactics, disrupted the Senate from protecting unborn babies,” he said.

Supreme Court STRIKES DOWN Racist Voting Rights Act Provision - NO MORE DOJ PRECLEARANCE for Redistricting and Voter ID

Posted June 26, 2013

The Supreme Court of the United States has declared a key provision of the Voting Rights Act. I have long declared and written many articles explaining why Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act is racist, discriminatory and unconstitutional. SCOTUS did not strike down Section 5, but they effectively dismantled Section 5 by striking down Section 4.

Section 5 of the voting rights act requires certain states and counties to get preclearance from Eric Holder's racist Department of Justice before they can make ANY changes to anything involving elections.

Texas AG Tells Janine Turner that SCOTUS Voting Rights Act Decision Is a ‘Huge Win for Equality’

Posted June 26, 2013

Greg Abbott implements Texas Voter ID law immediately after the ruling.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott responded to today's Supreme Court decision striking down Section 4 of the 1965 Voting Rights Act by implementing Texas' voter ID law. The Texas legislature had passed that law in 2011, only to have the Obama-Holder Justice Department put it on ice while challenging it under the Voting Rights Act.

Appearing on the Janine Turner Show today, Abbott was jubilant.

"This is a huge win for the Constitution and for equality in this country," Abbott said. "Before today, different states were treated differently under the Constitution. The Voting Rights Act is the only law that was used to impose disparate or different kind of treatment. Specifically, Texas was called out and treated differently than other states."

Dewhurst Says Straus Did not get Pro Life Bill to TX Senate in Time

Posted June 26, 2013

Texas LT Governor David Dewhurst has partially blamed a mob for the failure of big Texas Special Session Pro-Life bills and he partially blamed The Texas House, under the leadership and scheduling of pro-choice Texas Speaker Joe Straus. Dewhurst says that the Senate did not get the bill from the House in time to pass it in the Senate. They had all Special session to pass the bill and the Texas Senate had a plan from the beginning but the House leadership drug their feet.

Officials seek public feedback on flawed toll plan for US 281

Posted June 24, 2013

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the Alamo Regional Mobility Authority (RMA) are soliciting public comment on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Highway 281 expansion project. They held a public hearing Thursday, June 20, at the San Antonio Shrine Auditorium and nearly 250 people attended despite it being held on the same night as the final game of the Spurs World Championship play-offs. Over 90% of the public feedback opposed tolls on Hwy 281.

he Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) currently has two HOV/transit toll lanes planned from Loop 1604 to Stone Oak Pkwy., and tolls on all six main lanes (including the 4 currently toll-free lanes) north of Stone Oak Pkwy. to the county line.

Take ActionTexans Uniting for Reform and Freedom (TURF) is urging residents to reject the toll plan on Hwy 281 and demand the complete non-toll expressway option be advanced as the 'preferred alternative' for the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) that advances to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) for final approval in 2014. The deadline for public comment is July 1 and comments can be submitted to US281EIS@alamoRMA.org.

Lumberton ISD Principal's Prayer Prompts Threats from Freedom from Religion Foundation

Posted June 24, 2013

Lumberton ISD is once again in the news. This time it is over a prayer that a Lumberton principal (more on what happened at the Lumberton graduation below) did at a Kindergarten graduation. The principal, Kevin Wing, is one of the best principals running one of the best schools in Lumberton. Wing asked the parents if they mind if he said a prayer for the safety of the kids over the summer. That was it. Fortunately, this Christian prayer incident is not likely to cause any anger in Lumberton, TX. In fact, he will probably get an thank you from many parents who would like to see more prayers in school to combat the moral decline that we have seen over the years in America. He certainly should not get in trouble. If a teacher can walk around the school with a Vote Obama shirt on and not get into trouble, and if a different teacher can ask students to wear Muslim Burqas and not get into trouble, then it would be discriminatory to punish this principal for a simple school prayer.

Ted Cruz Launches National Petition Against Gang of Eight's Bill

Posted June 21, 2013

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) launched a national petition on Thursday to stop the Senate Gang of Eight's amnesty bill and send Washington a "strong signal" of the grassroots opposition to the bill.

"This is urgent," Cruz wrote in an e-mail to supporters. "We must stop this Gang of 8 immigration bill, which would give amnesty to an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants with no guarantee of a secure border."

"The Senate debate is in the final stages and we need to send Washington a strong signal of the overwhelming grassroots opposition to this amnesty bill from Americans across the country," Cruz explained.

Cruz urged supporters to share the petition with friends and to "act now--without delay--to help us defeat amnesty and stand for legal immigration!"

GOHMERT: Secure The Border, Then Let's Talk Immigration Reform

Posted June 21, 2013

The IRS has been caught red handed punishing the Obama administration’s political enemies, while the NSA is scoping out every person in America’s emails and phone records.  President Obama is being rocked by scandal after scandal.  It’s simply baffling that the House Republican leadership has now changed the subject to granting amnesty to millions of people who are illegally in the country.

My constituents know I have always been an advocate of legal immigration. The United States is a melting pot of various nationalities, and this has contributed to our overall success as a nation.

The Senate’s Gang-of-Eight immigration bill goes about immigration reform exactly backwards.

WASHINGTON –  Thousands of tea party activists rallied at the U.S. Capitol this afternoon, railing against the IRS, the Obama administration, Democrats generally, and illegal immigration.

“This really is to show Congress they better get their rears in gear, because the people are tired. We have no answers on any of the scandals, all the way back to Fast and Furious,” said Katrina Pierson, a Dallas tea party activist who was among the dozens of speakers.

True the Vote Update on IRS Lawsuit

Posted June 19, 2013

It's becoming obvious that we're all alone in our lawsuit against the IRS.

Just last week, the Director of the FBI told a Congressional hearing that he didn't even know the name of the person in charge of his so-called “investigation”!!

If the FBI won't even take this scandal seriously, we can't count on anyone.

It's truly ‘We the People’ against our own government, and that means we have no choice. We must win!

This lawsuit is taking every penny we've got right now, and I need your help to cover our legal bills for the coming week.

Will you pitch in right now to help us stay in this fight?
