Glenn Beck at Tea Party Rally: 'Stare Down the Bullies'

Posted June 20, 2013 By Robert Knight

WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 19, 2013) – At an "Audit the IRS" rally staged today in front of the U.S. Capitol, Glenn Beck told a crowd of about 10,000 to draw on their faith for courage in opposing tyrannical government.

My wife and I attended the event, which was held under cloudy skies on the lawn facing the mall.

"Stare down the bullies with the full armor of God," Beck said to enthusiastic applause at the event, which was sponsored by Tea Party Patriots and emceed by Jenny Beth Martin.

"The Constitution is designed to constrain the government," Martin told the crowd, as reported by CBN. "This knowledge in the hands of free people is a threat to those who lust for power and authority."

Illinois GOP Central Committee picks "Combine" lobbyist as Chair

Posted June 20, 2013

On June 1, 2013, the Illinois State Republican Central Committee (IRCC) elected John “Jack” Dorgan as its Chair and showed how “The Combine” works.

In Illinois, there’s only one political party. It’s The Combine – the collaborative combination of Democrat and Republican politicians and party officials who work together to harvest the taxpayers’ money.

The Tea Party organizations in Illinois are up against The Combine. Understanding what that means requires understanding what The Combine is, and how it operates.

‘We Will No Longer Accept the Lies’: Glenn Beck’s Powerful Speech at Washington, D.C. Rally

Posted June 20, 2013

Today, inside, they dedicated a new statue of another American giant, Fredrick Douglas – a man born into slavery, but who knew instinctively that he was not born a slave. No man is.

To keep a man a slave you do much the same as the cruel circus masters did to the elephant around the turn of last century. Clamp heavy chains around their legs and stake them to the ground. Then beat and terrorize them. After a while you no longer even have to stake the chain; the elephant gives up and just the mere rattle of the chain convinces the elephant there is no hope, so they give up and do what ever it is the circus requires.

Fredrick Douglas was lucky enough to live in a house where he was taught to read, write and think. He knew God did not make men masters over others. Nor did he ever intend any man to impose unrighteous dominion over another man or beast.

Rand Paul cheered, Marco Rubio jeered by Tea Party protestors at Capitol

Posted June 20, 2013

But while Paul earned similar praise Wednesday from activists perched on the Capitol lawn for a rally against illegal immigration and the IRS, the very mention of Rubio's name drew groans and even boos. The same Tea Party types that helped catapult Rubio into the national spotlight have now turned on him as he continues to maneuver the Senate toward a bipartisan, comprehensive immigration reform package.

"He's making a decision based on his personal ambition and not what's best for the country," said Debbie Agliano, whose husband, William, noted they were once fans and have a Rubio sign in their Hanover County, Va., garage.

New Jersey City Council Tries to Use Eminent Domain on Property Owners, Gets Swept Out of Office

Posted June 20, 2013

Sometimes you can beat City Hall.

Michael Monaghan has wanted to develop his property on Main Street in Hackensack, New Jersey, just a few miles away from Manhattan.  Yet the city twice denied two applications for banks to build on his land.

Instead, Hackensack’s Planning Board designated Michael’s and another owner’s land as an “area in need of redevelopment,” authorizing the use of eminent domain to condemn and seize the properties.  “I've stood up and tried to protect my property for the last eight years,” he said in an interview with a local paper.

Adding insult to injury, this designation was completely unwarranted.  According to Michael’s attorney, Peter Dickson, the board “did not make the Constitutional finding of blighted, and did not have any evidence that would support such a finding.”

Last month, the Appellate Division of the state Superior Court agreed, ruling the Planning Board didn’t properly prove that those properties were blighted and “in need of redevelopment.”   The city council intended to appeal the appellate court’s decision.

But fortunately for property owners, Hackensack’s entire city council was booted out of office.

Drug testing for food stamp applicants added to House Farm bill

Posted June 20, 2013

The House on Wednesday added an amendment to a $1 trillion Farm Bill that would give states the right to screen food stamp applicants for drug use.

Democrats vigorously protested the provision, sponsored by Rep. Richard Hudson, R-N.C., but no Democrats stood up to formally object or request a roll call vote and simply allowed it to pass by a quick voice vote and the strike of the gavel.

Republicans have been pushing for a more rigorous requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as SNAP.

The SNAP program costs have risen dramatically in recent years, from $35 billion in 2007 to $80 billion in 2012, according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office. The House bill would cut $20.5 billion from SNAP over the next decade.

Senators Announce Pending Border Security Deal
On Wednesday, senators and aides reported that the so-called Gang of Eight behind the immigration reform bill had cut a deal with Senators Bob Corker (R-TN) and John Hoeven (R-ND) to add some border security measures to the bill in an attempt to woo Republicans. The measures would not be nearly as strict as anything proposed by Senators John Cornyn (R-AZ) or Ted Cruz (R-TX) or Rand Paul (R-KY). Instead, it would add some border patrol agents, and create a "guarantee" on finishing the border fence at some unspecified point in the future.

Obama offends Catholics in the UK, says religious schools are divisive

Posted June 20, 2013

The Catholic media is up in arms over comments President Obama made during a speech while in Northern Ireland for the G8 summit. Obama made what is described as “an alarming call for an end to Catholic education,” in spite of the fact that it is considered “a critical component of the Church.”

In front of an audience of about 2,000 young people, including many Catholics, Obama claimed that Catholic education divides people and blocks peace, according to the Scottish Catholic Observer.

“If towns remain divided—if Catholics have their schools and buildings and Protestants have theirs, if we can’t see ourselves in one another and fear or resentment are allowed to harden—that too encourages division and discourages cooperation,” Obama said.

Capitol Hill Police Block Tea Party Activists from Immigration Rally

Posted June 19, 2013

Capitol Hill police are trying to block activists attending Wednesday's "Audit the IRS" rally from also attending a nearly day-long press conference on immigration, hosted by Reps. Steve King and Louie Gohmert. The IRS rally is on the west side of the Capitol, while the immigration event is on the east side. Organizers for the IRS event were told by Hill police that "your people" can only assemble on the west side. Organizers were told to remove the activists from the immigration event.

Big Brother alert: Cameras in the cable box to monitor TV viewers

Posted June 19, 2013

It hardly gets more Orwellian than this. New technology would allow cable companies to peer directly into television watchers' homes and monitor viewing habits and reactions to product advertisements.

The technology would come via the cable box, and at least one lawmaker on Capitol Hill is standing in opposition.

Mass. Democratic Rep. Michael Capuano has introduced a bill, the We Are Watching You Act, to prohibit the technology on boxes and collection of information absent consumer permission. The bill would also require companies that do use the data to show "we are watching you" messages on the screen and to explain just what kinds of information is being captured and for what reasons, AdWeek reported.

Guess Who's Getting $70 Million in Bonuses?

Posted June 19, 2013

Despite being under heavy scrutiny from both Democrats and Republicans on Capitol Hill and all over the country for inappropriately targeting conservative groups, IRS employees are about to receive $70 million in bonuses.

The Internal Revenue Service is about to pay $70 million in employee bonuses despite an Obama administration directive to cancel discretionary bonuses because of automatic spending cuts enacted this year, according to a GOP senator.

Whistleblower: State Dept. 'Harassed' Her Children

The State Department whistleblower who revealed alleged cover-ups of misconduct under Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has paid a price for her honesty, according to her attorney.

Former State Department Office of Inspector General (OIG) investigator Aurelia Fedensisn told Foreign Policy through a legal representative that she has since had "law enforcement officers camp out in front of her house, harass her children, and attempt to [get her to] incriminate herself."

WASHINGTON –  Thousands of tea party activists rallied at the U.S. Capitol this afternoon, railing against the IRS, the Obama administration, Democrats generally, and illegal immigration.

“This really is to show Congress they better get their rears in gear, because the people are tired. We have no answers on any of the scandals, all the way back to Fast and Furious,” said Katrina Pierson, a Dallas tea party activist who was among the dozens of speakers.

Authorities: Houston Man Threatened to Take Out Ted Cruz--and the Sun

Posted June 20, 2013

A Texas man has been accused of threatening to kidnap, murder, and burn Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and his father.

Nick Gates said if he wasn’t paid $3 million, he would not only harm Cruz and his dad; he would also “blow up” the sun.
The man reportedly stated he was previously hospitalized in Houston at the Harris County Mental Health Center.

Gates allegedly made threatening phone calls to Cruz’s offices in San Antonio and Austin on June 5. Gates has admitted making the calls and threatening Cruz, saying he would “lose the sun” if he didn’t cough up the cash, according to court documents.

Law enforcement charged Gates with making a terroristic threat, and he is being held on a $10,000 bond.

True the Vote Update on IRS Lawsuit

Posted June 19, 2013

It's becoming obvious that we're all alone in our lawsuit against the IRS.

Just last week, the Director of the FBI told a Congressional hearing that he didn't even know the name of the person in charge of his so-called “investigation”!!

If the FBI won't even take this scandal seriously, we can't count on anyone.

It's truly ‘We the People’ against our own government, and that means we have no choice. We must win!

This lawsuit is taking every penny we've got right now, and I need your help to cover our legal bills for the coming week.

Will you pitch in right now to help us stay in this fight?

Conservatives attack Republican effort to expand ethanol mandate

Posted June 19, 2013

Conservatives are criticizing efforts by some House Republicans to expand the federal government’s ethanol mandate to include ethanol produced from natural gas.

While Republicans have been pushing for full repeal of the Renewable Fuel Standard, some have argued that until the mandate is actually repealed ethanol made from natural gas should be used to “crack” the monopoly corn ethanol has in meeting government targets.

“Unfortunately, the inescapable fact is that we do not have the votes right now for full repeal in the House or the Senate,” Melissa Kelly, spokeswoman for Texas Republican Rep. Pete Olson, told The Daily Caller News Foundation.  Olson has introduced a bill to expand the RFS to include ethanol made from natural gas.

Senator Cornyn (finally) comes clean

Posted June 18, 2013

It's hard to fight the monumental corruption of this Administration when your own skirts are unclean.

From today's National Journal, a report that Senator Cornyn of Texas has failed for some time to report pension payments he's receiving:

Texas Republican John Cornyn supplemented his Senate salary with a trio of public pensions last year from his days as a Texas judge and elected official-a practice some fiscal watchdog groups have attacked as "double dipping."

Cornyn, who is the minority whip and the No. 2 ranking Republican in the Senate, reported collecting $65,383 in public retirement benefits in 2012 in addition to his $174,000 salary as a U.S. senator.

Cornyn's office did not respond to requests for comment.
Elected to the Senate in 2002, Cornyn is a former district judge, Texas Supreme Court justice, and state attorney general. In 2012, he collected pensions from three separate state retirement programs.

Texas Gov. Perry Vetoes 26 Bills - Defunds Drunk Travis DA, Protects School TEKS/SBOE, Redundant Lilly Ledbetter

Posted June 17, 2013

Texas Governor Perry has vetoed 26 of the bills that passed out of the 2013 Texas Legislative
Session, and he also line item vetoed a couple of other bills. These bills range from defunding the Public Integrity Unit because the Travis County District Attorney is a convicted criminal and a drunk driver who brings discredit to the office, to protecting the integrity of the State Board of Education, to not allowing the Lilly Ledbetter bill to go forward because it is already federal law and it would be redundant and would end up keeping women from getting hired according to some experts. Then of course last month Governor Perry already vetoed SB 346 which many believed was a bill that Joe Straus was going to use to target conservative non-profits who speak out against him for such things as not being pro-life.

Palin to Congress: Go on 'Cruz Control'

Posted June 17, 2013

On Saturday, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin said Congress could get more done if it went on "Cruz control."

“You know what I wish Congress would do?" Palin asked. "If they would just for one week... put themselves on Cruz control... on Ted Cruz control."

She said Congress should try just try it "for a week" in order to "see where things go."

"I think we'd see some solutions," she said at the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference in Washington, D.C. that she headlined.

While introducing Palin, Faith and Freedom Coalition executive director Ralph Reed said Palin was leading conservatives long before conservatives even knew it. He emphasized how critical Palin's endorsements have been in electing conservatives and singled out her endorsement of Cruz during the 2010 GOP Senate primary in Texas.

Cruz noted at this year's CPAC that he would not be in the Senate without Palin's endorsement. And Palin said, of Cruz, that he is the type of senator who "chews up barbed-wire and spits out rust."

Ted Cruz: Obama Assaulting Freedom on Every Front

Posted June 14, 2013

From IRS targeting to the PRISM program, the Obama administration has disregarded our most basic freedoms as part of a Nixonian campaign to discredit its political enemies, Sen. Ted Cruz said in a speech Thursday.

“Using the machinery of government to target your political enemies is wrong. It was wrong when Nixon did it, and it’s wrong now,” the Texas Republican told an audience at the Faith and Freedom Coalition.

Cruz characterized the nation’s current disagreements over religious freedom as part of an unbroken struggle waged since the days of the pilgrims.
