27 Edward Snowden Quotes About U.S. Government Spying That Should Send A Chill Up Your Spine

Posted June 11, 2013

Would you be willing to give up what Edward Snowden has given up?  He has given up his high paying job, his home, his girlfriend, his family, his future and his freedom just to expose the monolithic spy machinery that the U.S. government has been secretly building to the world.  He says that he does not want to live in a world where there isn't any privacy.  He says that he does not want to live in a world where everything that he says and does is recorded.  Thanks to Snowden, we now know that the U.S. government has been spying on us to a degree that most people would have never even dared to imagine.  Up until now, the general public has known very little about the U.S. government spy grid that knows almost everything about us.  But making this information public is going to cost Edward Snowden everything.  Essentially, his previous life is now totally over.  And if the U.S. government gets their hands on him, he will be very fortunate if he only has to spend the next several decades rotting in some horrible prison somewhere.  There is a reason why government whistleblowers are so rare.  And most Americans are so apathetic that they wouldn't even give up watching their favorite television show for a single evening to do something good for society.  Most Americans never even try to make a difference because they do not believe that it will benefit them personally.  Meanwhile, our society continues to fall apart all around us.  Hopefully the great sacrifice that Edward Snowden has made will not be in vain.  Hopefully people will carefully consider what he has tried to share with the world.  The following are 27 quotes from Edward Snowden about U.S. government spying that should send a chill up your spine...

The Nevada GOP Central Committee elected its Chair to the House in 2011

Posted June 11, 2013 ~ by Lee Cary

Since 1789, the U.S. House of Representatives, the Peoples' House, has been elected directly by the citizens. In Nevada, that's no longer true. In September 2011, the party elite of the Nevada State GOP Central Committee changed We the People to We the Party, and set a dangerous precedent by appointing its own chairman to represent the 2nd Congressional District of Nevada.

Suitably, the story of how it happened begins with infidelity.

The subject of abortion is never an easy one.  People quickly divide into two camps and spend their time in heated rhetoric.  It is hard to imagine what a reasonable compromise would consist of; only the ‘Judgment of Solomon’ comes to mind.  Often times the argument breaks down on religious grounds.  I will attempt to avoid this pitfall by dealing with, at least initially, the secular argument exclusively.

Most secularists think they have a monopoly on science and reason.  So let’s begin by dispensing with two of the most pervasive justifications for abortion on the basis that they are scientifically unsustainable.

The first favored argument is, “A woman should be able to do whatever she wants with her own body.”

Off-duty cops collect DNA samples at Alabama roadblocks

Posted June 11, 2013

Off-duty cops in two counties in Alabama spent the weekend collecting saliva and blood samples from drivers at roadblocks.

According to Lt. Freddie Turrentine with the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, drivers were asked to voluntarily offer samples of their saliva and blood for a study being conducted by the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation.

The drivers were compensated for their samples.

The Scandal Dump is a Smokescreen

Posted June 10, 2013

For several months, the Benghazi scandal lay dormant, apparently forgiven and forgotten.  Then, inexplicably, it reared its ugly head when Congressmen Ron Johnson and Jason Chaffetz smelled Obama's blood in the water.

After feigning affliction with the flu, and then ostensibly tumbling down a carpeted stairwell resulting in an unconfirmed concussion, then-Secretary of State Clinton was finally forced to testify before Congress.  Clinton's desperate attempt to put the  Benghazi scandal to rest with her now-infamous impassioned declaration -- "What difference, at this point, does it make?" -- only fanned the flames of American outrage at the needless deaths of Ambassador Chris Stevens, his aide Sean Smith, and two valiant Navy SEALS, Tyrone Woods and Glen Dougherty.

Don't take your eyes off Benghazi

Posted June 10, 2013

The latest flurry of scandals flooding the media is merely a smokescreen to obscure the real scandal that could potentially bring down the Obama administration. The real scandal is Benghazi.

Do you remember Hilary Clinton's statement, "What difference at this point does it make?" Immediately after that, scandal after scandal, headline after headline, has been pushing Benghazi further and further from the front page. Put the focus back on Benghazi.

The group leading the charge to end the Benghazi cover-up is SOS (Special Operations Speaks).

Citizens Debate The Senate Immigration BillCitizens Debate the Senate Immigration Bill [Videos]

Posted June 11, 2013
by Dale Huls

The US Senate has been called the "world's greatest deliberative body". George Washington once said that the founders created the Senate to cool House legislation just as a saucer was used to "cool hot tea". Well, George was right, the Senate is certainly trying to "cool the hot Tea Parties" over the issue of immigration reform and border control. According to Madison, the "great anchor" of Government was to be a "necessary fence against the "fickleness and passion" that tended to sway House members and the general public.

Unfortunately, today's modern Senate is neither "deliberate" nor a "fence" with regards to the great issues of our time. In fact, this Senate has been acting more like children rather than the mature seasoned legislators they profess to be. Instead of addressing the issue with the American people, instead of working within the appropriate committees and regular order, today's Senate has devolved to a Gang of Six, a Gang of Eight or a Gang of some other grouping to craft legislation that can be forced through the controlling political parties bypassing our traditional legislative processes.

Sen. Cruz Statement on Farm Bill Vote

Posted June 11, 2013

WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) today expressed his disappointment with S. 954, the Farm Bill:

Agriculture forms the backbone of the Texas economy and is an integral part of our proud heritage, as it is for the rest of the nation. Unfortunately, the current farm bill gives far less attention to the needs of farmers than it does to politicians and special interests. For an issue as critical to our nation's safety and American livelihoods as ensuring a reliable food supply, I am disappointed that Washington's cynical politics have again trumped any real reform.

Any meaningful support for farmers in this trillion dollar bill is unnecessarily held hostage to the unchecked growth of food stamp entitlements and numerous other programs unrelated to farming. This farm bill costs 60 percent more than the 2008 bill. Nearly 80 percent of it is comprised of food stamps. It fails to provide a true safety net for difficult years, fails to fully target assistance to those most in need, and fails to prioritize farm aid over duplicative programs, subsidizing unrelated programs from green energy to housing.

We should address the true needs of American farmers, but the bill considered by the Senate does much more harm than good. I hope our House colleagues will include needed reforms that the Senate omitted in its flawed consideration of this important issue.

Texas legislature kills property rights bills

Posted June 11, 2013 ~ by Terri Hall

A slate of pro-property rights bills died in the 83rd regular session of the Texas legislature that ended on Memorial Day. Texas politicians love to tout their property rights credentials at election time, but when lawmakers are in session, they've yet to give meaningful protection to landowners in several key areas when it comes time to cast a vote.

Whether it involves proper oversight over granting private entities the power of eminent domain (which most property rights groups vehemently oppose under ANY circumstances) or ensuring condemning entities actually use the land for the purpose for which it was taken in a reasonable period of time, the leadership of the Texas legislature continues to punt rather than lead.

The Patriot Briefing by New Revolution Now

June 16th is the last day Gov. Perry can VETO bills that have come to his desk. Now the Governor is probably a little preoccupied with preparing for his "next step" in the political arena and needs our help to re-focus on his current responsibilities. He may also need some help remembering his legislative priorities he set before the 83rd legislative session began. So, that's where we come in with words of encouragement.

CALL BOMB Monday June 10th 8:00am to 8:00pm
Call the Governor's Office 800-843-5789 or 512-463-2000

  • Status: On the Governor's desk

SB 1406 Relating to State Board of Education oversight of regional education service center activities concerning certain curriculum management systems.

HB 2103 - Allows the Texas Education Agency, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and the Texas Workforce Commission to share personal data with education research centers in Texas and across the nation  - the data goes back 20 years.

HB 5 - Decimates the "measuring stick" (STAAR/EOC's) so that parents will not know whether their children have been taught Type #1 or Type #2 curriculum (such as CSCOPE, Common Core Standards, Safari Montage, TASA iCLOUD) until it is too late.

HB 866 - Companion to HB 5 to destroy the measuring stick - >From Grades 3 - 8, students are only tested twice in Writing on an objective instrument (STAAR), once in Social Studies, two times in Science, three times in Math, and three times in Reading.

HB 2836 - Takes away authority over the curriculum standards (TEKS) from our elected Texas State Board of Education members.

HB 1675 - Moves back Sunset Review of the Education Service Centers to Sept. 1, 2019

HB 2824 - Lets a consortium of so-called "high performing" (mostly mediocre) school districts off the hook in terms of testing and accountability, thus freeing them up to do teaching and learning to whatever goals and standards they choose.
SB 1730 - that sells-off 23 Texas roads to private, foreign companies!

Sen. Cruz Statement on NSA Phone Surveillance

Posted June 10, 2013

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) today released the following statement regarding President Obama’s comments on the NSA’s gathering of Americans’ private phone records:

We should always be mindful of the need for government to have the tools necessary to keep Americans safe in a dangerous world, where there are enemies plotting to attack us. We have seen the face of that enemy time and again, most recently in the terrorist attacks at Fort Hood, Benghazi and Boston to name a few.

But on one hand the Obama Administration says this enemy is in retreat, yet on the other, they are implementing what appears to be an unprecedented and intrusive surveillance system on private American citizens in the name of guarding against that enemy. Just today, the president encouraged us to trust him on this – to trust that there are safeguards to ensure our privacy is protected, trust that there is a system of checks and balances to prevent an abuse of power. But in light of this Administration's track record, how can they expect to be trusted?

We have discovered over the past few months an ongoing pattern of wanton disregard not only for Americans' privacy, but for the truth – DOJ's refusal to be forthcoming about drone policy, IRS's targeting groups for their political beliefs and then misleading the American people about it, DOJ's targeting of journalists for doing their jobs, and now what seems an unprecedented intrusion into Americans' personal phone records and potentially into their broader online activities.

Americans trusted President Obama when he came to office promising the most transparent administration in history. But that trust has been broken and the only way to earn it back is to tell the truth. That's what Americans deserve. I will be working with my colleagues in the Senate who share my concerns to ensure that we have all the facts about these surveillance programs, and that our government is appropriately balancing concerns of national security with Americans' personal liberties.
