‘Gotcha!’: The First Pictures of Alleged Boston Bomber In Custody Surface

Posted April 20, 2013

Police captured 19-year-old Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on Friday night following a nearly 24-hour manhunt. He had been hiding in a boat parked in a backyard.

The bloody endgame came four days after the bombing and just a day after the FBI released surveillance-camera images of two young men suspected of planting the pressure-cooker explosives that ripped through the crowd at the marathon finish line, killing three people and wounding more than 180.

The first images of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who was alive but in serious condition, began to emerge late Friday night:

City of Boston gave ‘subsidy’ to bombing suspects’ radical mosque

Posted April 20, 2013

Suspected Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev attended a Massachusetts mosque that made a controversial deal with a Boston city agency that allowed it to buy land at a lower-than-market price in exchange for various token services to the Boston community, despite the mosque’s links to some radical anti-American figures

The 19-year-old Tsarnaev attended mosque at the Islamic Society of Boston (ISB) in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The Daily Caller reported Friday that the ISB hosted at its satellite cultural center a book signing April 6 featuring British journalist Victoria Brittain, who has criticized the United States and United Kingdom for waging a “war against Islam” in its anti-terrorism efforts.

Reid pulls gun bill from consideration

Posted April 19, 2013

Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) announced Thursday that the Senate will “take a pause” and return to consideration of gun legislation at a later date.

“Yesterday, President Obama said it was a shameful day for the Senate, and it probably was, I agree. But we should make no mistake: This debate is not over, in fact this fight is just beginning,” Reid said on the Senate floor Thursday.

Reid’s decision came the day after President Obama’s comprehensive gun control effort suffered defeat in the Senate, with all the major proposals he backed failing to gain enough votes.

Reid said the Senate would “take a pause and freeze the background check bill where it is” and return to it at an undetermined date, likely with consideration of other proposed amendments.

Reuters accidentally publishes George Soros obituary

Posted April 19, 2013

Publications often prepare obituaries for famous living individuals, particularly ones who are near death. Publications don’t, however, generally prematurely publish them.

Thursday evening, Reuters accidentally published its obituary of the wealthy liberal business magnate and political financier George Soros, who is alive and well at 82.

Obama Quietly Signs STOCK Act Rollback

Posted April 19, 2013

Opensecrets.org is reporting that President Obama has just signed “a rollback of key transparency provisions of the STOCK Act.”

The Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act of 2012 was created in response to public outcry when it was revealed members of Congress were legally allowed to engage in insider trading.

Last week, the Senate stripped out the enforcement provisions of the Act and today President Obama quietly signed the rollback.

Breaking News on TheBlaze.com: Saudi National with Possible Ties to Boston Terrorist Bombings to be Deported?

Added 9:50am April 18, 2013

Appearing on “Hannity” Wednesday night, the Investigative Project on Terrorism’s Steve Emerson reported that Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, the Saudi national who was briefly named a “person of interest” in the Boston Marathon bombings, is being deported on Tuesday. He based his information on a number of his confidential sources.

“I just learned from my own sources that he is now going to be deported on national security grounds next Tuesday,” Emerson said.

Host Sean Hannity referenced a report by Reuters that revealed President Barack Obama met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal at the White House Wednesday. They reportedly discussed the conflict in Syria.

“The meeting was not on Obama’s public schedule,” the report adds.

Updates from TheBlaze.com

Sources tell TheBlaze that the Saudi national is set to be deported on “security and related grounds.” His visa also has been revoked. Below is some of the information that has been communicated to us:
1. One source at the FBI and another at the Saudi Embassy referred to the student as connected to an important Saudi family.
2. An “event” was created on this guy three days ago.  An event is a file.  The file contains his deportation record and the reason he is being deported.  According to ICE the reason is under section 212 3B — “Security and related grounds” –  “Terrorist activities”
3. His visa has been revoked.
4. The FBI said a file was started “just in case he was found to be connected to the crime,” however, the file shows he was scheduled to be deported.  This was not a precaution, it was in “orders.”
5. One source said they believe a “voluntary” departure has been signed — that means the Saudi Student could be out of the country as early as today.
6. The file was immediately classified.  We believe the deportation order will be classified as well — requiring a FOIA to get it.
7. The story was going to be “he wanted to go home,” however he was actually being deported.
8. Our source said the FBI believes the Saudi student is tied to 2 to 3 more people.
9. Our source said this “looks like they were trying to make this a ‘lone wolf’ crime so, the Saudi government would be spared embarrassment and the U.S. would avoid explaining how a terror cell was active when we had AQ on the run.”

Grassley Launches Effort to Prohibit Common Core Funding

Posted April 18, 2013

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is asking his colleagues to co-sign a letter asking the Senate Appropriations Committee that funds education to cut off all future funds that would allow the Obama administration to “cajole state’s” into participating in the Common Core State Standards and it’s assessments.  This comes on the heels of the Republican National Committee voting in favor of a resolution critical of the Common Core State Standards.

His office in an email sent late this afternoon document the steps the Obama administration has taken to push states to adopt the Common Core.

  • Making adoption of Common Core a pre-requisite for a state even being able to compete for Race to the Top funds.
  • Directly funding the two assessment consortia developing tests aligned to Common Core using Race to the Top funds.
  • Assembling a panel to review the work of the two assessment consortia.
  • Making implementation of Common Core or coordination with Common Core a funding priority for other, unrelated competitive grants administered by the Department of Education.
  • Making participation in Common Core essentially a prerequisite for being awarded a waiver from the Department of requirements in the No Child Left Behind Act.

The email said, “This means no more Race to the Top funds in support of Common Core or the assessments aligned with Common Core and stopping further federal review of the assessments produced by the two consortiums.  It also means that the Department could not penalize a state that chooses to leave Common Core by revoking its NCLB waiver. The deadline for senators to sign on this letter is April 25 so it can reach the subcommittee in time to be considered. “

Assault Weapons Ban Goes Down 40Y-60N

Posted April 18, 2013

Senator Dianne Feinstein's assault weapon ban amendment failed to pass the Senate today. It bans the sale of 157 different semi-automatic weapons and high capacity magazines.  The amendment was long expected to fail.

The final vote was 40 in favor, 60 against.

Defeated Obama Rages: 'Memories of These Children Demand' More Power for Democrats

Posted April 18, 2013

With the failure of the Democrats’ attempt to exploit the Newtown school shooting to press forward gun control measures, President Obama took to the microphones along with the relatives of Sandy Hook victims to demonize his opposition. This, of course, was his strategy all along: knowing that he did not have 60 votes in the Democrat-controlled Senate to pass his gun control legislation, he pressed forward anyway, hoping to paint Republicans as intransigent, immoral tools of the gun lobby who don’t care about dead children. After demonizing Republicans, Obama hopes, he can press Americans into voting Democrats back into power in the House of Representatives.

“The memories of these children demand [gun control],” Obama concluded.
What he meant was obvious: the memories of dead children in Sandy Hook demands that voters give Obama more Senators and more Congresspeople. How convenient for him.

Texas Tea Party Groups Unite for West, TX Explosion Victims

Posted April 19, 2013

Immediately following news of the devastating explosion of a fertilizer plant in the rural Texas town of West, the nearby Waco Tea Party began organizing efforts to help those affected.

The group’s president, Toby Walker, called a local hotel and secured a room for the wives and families of first responders. Wives and mothers began to receive updates from the front lines as they charted a course of action for the following day.

Local distribution centers were identified and the conservative networks were activated to volunteer and help operate the collecting, sorting, and distribution of needed items. Breitbart News’ own Brandon Darby was asked to go and help with the efforts.

Darby had extensive experience with relief efforts in post-Katrina New Orleans and now runs Citizen Patriot Response, a group that mobilizes Tea Party and other liberty-minded groups to help communities in need. Darby began sorting through the fog of disaster and reporting the facts to the public-at-large shorty after last night's tragic accident.

Almost immediately, area 912 groups began mobilizing relief efforts. Houston’s King Street Patriots and True the Vote networks were notified; the groups’ offices were established as an aid collection center for the people of West.

All of the various groups involved have pledged to continue mobilizing the Tea Party, 912, and other right-of-center movements into a relief and aid network for the people of West.

The local Waco Tea Party has compiled a list of things needed, where money can be donated, and locations where items can be sent.

A Houston aid drop-off location was also established by King Street Patriots and True the Vote.

Californiacation: Texas bill drops Algebra II from required classes

Posted April 19, 2013

The Texas state senate will soon take up a House-approved education bill that would lower high school graduation standards and eliminate Algebra II as a required class.

House Bill 5 scales back high school core curriculum requirements in math, science, and social studies for Texas high schoolers. It also reduces the number of standardized tests students must take between 9th and 12th grade from 15 to 5. But the most controversial reform has proven to be the change to the math curriculum: students no longer need to take Algebra II in order to graduate.

The bill was passed by the Senate Education Committee and will now face the full chamber. In the House, it won approval from all but 2 of the 150 Texas representatives, according to The New York Times.

Massive explosion rocks Texas town

Posted April 18, 2013

WEST, Texas (AP) — A massive explosion at a fertilizer plant near Waco on Wednesday injured dozens of people and killed an unknown number of others, leaving the factory a smoldering ruin and leveling buildings for blocks in every direction.

The explosion at West Fertilizer in downtown West, a community about 20 miles north of Waco, happened around 7 p.m. and could be heard as far away as Waxahachie, 45 miles to the north. It sent flames shooting high into the night sky and rained burning embers, shrapnel and debris down on shocked and frightened residents.

A member of the city council, Al Vanek, said a four-block area around the explosion was “totally decimated.” Other witnesses compared the scene to that of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, and authorities said the plant made materials similar to that used to fuel the bomb that tore apart that city’s Murrah Federal Building.

Texas Governor Rick Perry Makes a Sharp Left Turn

Posted April 18, 2013

By JoAnn Fleming, Executive Director, Grassroots America – We the People PAC; and for identification purposes – Chair, TX Legislature’s TEA Party Caucus Advisory Committee

Today, Governor Rick Perry made a sharp left turn. According to sources inside the GOP Caucus meeting, Perry has decided to abandon his own promises to the people of Texas. One year ago – on Tax Day 2012, no less – Gov. Perry unveiled a “State Budget Compact” and promised us he would champion and push for these five principles:

1. Practice Truth in Budgeting
2. Support a Constitutional limit of spending to the growth of population & inflation
3. Oppose any new taxes or tax increases; make the small business tax exemption permanent
4. Preserve a strong Rainy Day Fund
5. Cut unnecessary and duplicative government programs and agencies

One year later, due to a lack of leadership, these promises won’t likely survive the legislative session. Once again, we get a lot of talk, but little real action. Today, Perry signaled to Texas House Republicans that these promises really no longer matter.

If that’s not bad enough, Gov. Perry is asking House Republicans to walk the plank for him in support of busting the spending cap, putting Texas further into debt, and raiding the Rainy Day Fund. In exchange, Perry promised to...

Urgent Public Hearing Meeting in Austin Friday 4-19: Smart Meters and Right to Op-Out

Posted April 18, 2013

There is an important  public hearing in Austin this Friday, April 19, 11:00 a.m. on Smart Meter opt-out SmartMeters.

Anyone who lives in the Austin area that can attend the meeting to support this initiative is appreciated.

Mason is currently in the process of installing “water” meters controlled by the city remotely, which we suspect are “Smart Meters” and of course the next steps here would be electric Smart Meters.  A new tea party member who just moved to Mason is building a house here and she is faced with the challenge of the City insisting the Smart Meter be installed.  We  are meeting with the Mason City Manager tomorrow!   A timely opportunity to advocate our Constitutional rights! ~ Nancy Clay

His initial charge of resisting arrest, search or transportation was later reduced to interfering with an officer’s duty.

Watchdog questions the motives of lobbyist who was convicted of election fraud felonies in Nevada

HOUSTON, TX. April 16, 2013 - True the Vote (TTV), the leading national, voters' rights and election integrity organization, today submitted a letter to Texas House Elections Committee members that refutes recent false criticisms of proposals regarding early voting, roll maintenance and polling place security.

"It's a sad state of affairs when an activist with more than a dozen voter fraud convictions, Amy Busefink, represents organizations that violated Texas Election Codes against the proposals that could prevent similar illegal behavior in the future. If you've ever wondered why voter ID and other integrity measures became so popular across all demographics, look no further," Engelbrecht argued. Read more...

Texas Second Amendment Preservation Bill

Posted April 17, 2013

In accordance with the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the Texas House will to vote on a Second Amendment Preservation bill as early as this week.

With several other bills that would restore Second Amendment rights to Texas citizens left “pending” in committee, HB 928 will see its day on the House floor.

The Second Amendment Preservation bill essentially invokes the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. That amendment states that any authority or power not explicitly granted to the federal government by the U.S. Constitution is reserved to the states or individuals. Such a bill is nicknamed a “nullification” bill. If a majority of the states enact similar legislation or amendments to their state constitutions, ideally, the federal law becomes unenforceable.

The language of the Second Amendment Preservation bill clearly states that no state, county or local law enforcement employee or officer will be allowed to participate in or enforce any federal law that infringes upon the Second Amendment. That is, they cannot do so unless the state has similar restrictions, laws or regulations in the state’s government or penal codes. Specified restrictions include those on magazine capacity, accessories and firearms themselves.
