Obama Pushes to Give Home Loans to Lower Credit Borrowers

Posted April 5, 2013

The Obama Administration is angling to allow people with questionable credit to receive home loans, encouraging lenders to use more subjective judgment, and pushing banks to utilize programs through the Federal Housing Administration (FHA)--an executive branch agency that sticks taxpayers with the bill if borrowers default on their FHA home loan.

FHA Commissioner Carol Galante says people with lower credit scores should be allowed to borrow. “My view is that there are lots of creditworthy borrowers that are  below 720 and 700—all the way down the credit-score spectrum.  It’s important you look at the totality of that borrower’s ability to pay,” said Galante.

But former Fannie Mae executive and American Enterprise Institute fellow Ed Pinto says such a move would be a mistake. “If that were to come to pass, that would open the floodgates to highly excessive risk and would send us right back on the same path we were just trying to recover from,” said Pinto.”

HUD Launches ‘Fair Housing’ Ads, Cites ‘Religious Discrimination,’ ‘Neighborhoods With Mosques’

Posted April 5, 2013

A Muslim woman wearing a hijab is the subject of one ad that says, “Is religious discrimination keeping you out of the home of your dreams?”

The ad then tells people to look out for these “possible signs” of housing discrimination: “I’ll show you neighborhoods with mosques”; “We only take people who speak English clearly”; and “You might be more comfortable living elsewhere.”

HUD said the poster of the woman “wearing traditional Muslim headdress highlights the persistence of discrimination based on religion.”

America’s Cyprus

Posted April 5, 2013

While people around the world may be appalled at the actions of the Cyprus government to close their banks and confiscate a portion of certain accounts, many in America claim it “will not happen here.” Perhaps they are correct for at least the immediate future, but far worse was done to Americans in 1933 and it could happen again.

On April 5, 1933, approximately one month after first taking office, Franklin D. Roosevelt commanded, via Executive Order No. 6102, “All persons are hereby required to deliver on or before May 1, 1933, to a Federal reserve bank … all gold coin, gold bullion and gold certificates now owned by them or coming into their ownership on or before April 28, 1933[.]”

By his executive order Roosevelt deprived Americans of their property “without due process of law” under the Fifth Amendment. To add injury to insult, he also ordered up to a $10,000 fine or ten years in prison or both for anyone who willfully violated any provision of his executive order.

As North Korea Crisis Deepens, Obama Raises Campaign Cash in San Francisco

Posted April 5, 2013

(CNSNews.com) - As North Korea announced it has approved a nuclear strike on the United States, President Barack Obama was back on the campaign trail, raising money for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in San Francisco, California.

The first two DCCC fundraising events for the 2014 election cycle had Obama appearing with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and DCCC Chairman Steve Israel (D-N.Y.).

Disability Trust Fund Ran Record $31.2B Deficit in 2012; In Deficit Every Year Under Obama

Posted April 5, 2013

(CNSNews.com) - The federal Disability Insurance Trust Fund, which takes in money via a federal payroll tax and pays it out in disability benefits, ran a record $31.2 billion deficit in calendar year 2012, according to the Social Security Administration.

That means the trust fund has run a deficit in each of the first four years of the Obama presidency.

Government of the crisis, by the crisis, and for the crisis

Posted April 5, 2013

Obama used the actual financial crisis we were experiencing (largely as a result of liberal policies that he himself endorsed -- and continues to endorse) to press for his stimulus package. Over and over, he told us that we had to act "now" to overcome this crisis. As it turned out, he wasn't nearly so quick in spending the money and implementing the stimulus program as he was in using the crisis to get it through Congress. The delays in implementing it and the non-stimulative effect of most of the expenditures are now legendary. How are those jump-started jobs working out?

He created a crisis atmosphere to justify his takeover of GM and Chrysler. He has repeatedly attempted to suggest we have an infrastructure crisis (claiming stable bridges are about to crumble) in order to push further stimulus packages. Obama described the state of our health care as a national crisis in order to force through Obamacare. He even treated existing nuclear arsenals as a crisis and said that ratification of the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty with Russia was a matter of utmost urgency.

The Great DHS Ammunition Stockpile Myth

Posted April 5, 2013

There are dozens of articles hyping government purchases of ammunition over the last nine months. After spending weeks researching this topic, this is a collection of commonly held myths that are based more on panic than fact.

With the recent release of a letter from the Department of Homeland Security to Senator Coburn, the numbers we calculated independently seem to corroborate the narrative coming from DHS. The concerns surrounding DHS stockpiling ammunition are nothing but more fear-mongering and largely unwarranted. For once, here are the facts to set the record straight:

MYTH: DHS purchased 750 million rounds of several different types of ammunition in August 2012.

FACT: The DHS contract never stated 750 million rounds at any time. It is a five year contract with a maximum purchase of 70 million rounds over the life of the contract. Military Times recently addressed this issue as well.

Prospects for arms treaty all but dead in Senate

Posted April 4, 2013

One day after the U.N. General Assembly overwhelmingly approved the treaty, Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah said it was "deeply flawed" and became the 35th senator to endorse a resolution of opposition. The Constitution requires two-thirds of the Senate — 67 votes — to ratify a treaty.

"I have great concerns that this treaty can be used to violate the second amendment rights of American citizens, and do not believe we should sign any treaty that infringes on the sovereignty of our country," Lee said in a statement that reflected the strong objections of gun rights advocates.
The United States joined 153 nations in backing the treaty that proponents argue will keep weapons out of the hands of terrorists and human rights abusers. Iran, North Korea and Syria, which face international arms embargoes, voted against the pact.

The treaty prohibits countries that ratify it from exporting conventional weapons if they violate arms embargoes, or if they promote acts of genocide, crimes against humanity or war crimes, or if they could be used in attacks against civilians or schools and hospitals.

EXCLUSIVE: ACLU says Reid’s gun legislation could threaten privacy rights, civil liberties

Posted April 4, 2013

As Senate Democrats struggle to build support for new gun control legislation, the American Civil Liberties Union now says it’s among those who have “serious concerns” about the bill.

Those concerns have the capacity to prove a major setback to Sen. Harry Reid’s current gun bill, which includes language from earlier bills introduced by Sens. Chuck Schumer and Barbara Boxer.

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller, a top lobbyist for the ACLU announced that the group thinks Reid’s current gun bill could threaten both privacy rights and civil liberties.

Groups led by inside trader, child abuser got Obamacare co-op loans

Posted April 4, 2013

Federal officials approved Obamacare loans totaling $127 million last year to groups led by individuals whose backgrounds included an insider trading conviction and another with a long history of child sexual abuse, The Washington Examiner has learned.

The loans -- which must be repaid at a future date -- are to fund health insurance co-operative startups in Louisiana and Maine. They will compete with private sector health insurance providers under a $2 billion Obamacare initiative to fund 24 co-op startups nationwide.

Both the Maine and Louisiana co-ops are among 13 under investigation by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee headed by Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif.

Tens of thousands Obamacare 'navigators' to be hired

Posted April 4, 2013

Tens of thousands of health care professionals, union workers and community activists hired as "navigators" to help Americans choose Obamacare options starting Oct. 1 could earn $20 an hour or more, according to new regulations issued Wednesday.

The 63-page rule covering navigators, drawn up by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, also said the government will provide free translators for those not fluent in English -- no matter what their native language is.

Greg Abbott on the UN Arms Treaty

Posted April 4, 2013

Your Liberty -- as a United States citizen -- was weakened and threatened yesterday when the Obama Administration helped the United Nations pass the Arms Trade Treaty. Immediately after this disappointing vote, I wrote a letter to President Obama urging him not to sign the treaty.
If the President signs the treaty allowing the UN to be involved in regulating firearms in the U.S., Texas will lead the charge to have the treaty overturned in court as a violation of the U.S. Constitution.

I need your support. Please help us get the word out by referring 3 of your friends right now , and forwarding this email to 5 of your friends . Together, we can make a difference.
America is exceptional in part because our Constitution safeguards our individual liberties – including the right to keep and bear arms enshrined in the Second Amendment.

The new UN treaty threatens your rights:

  • it doesn't recognize the individual right to keep and bear arms or the fundamental right to defend yourself, your family, or your property;
  • it empowers a new UN bureaucracy focused on firearms restrictions that will be run by international bureaucrats who are not accountable to the people of the United States.
  • it could impose firearm registration requirements that may empower international authorities to get information about American citizens and businesses.

This UN treaty does more than trample Second Amendment rights. It also threatens to erode all liberties guaranteed to Americans in the Constitution by giving the UN power to govern our lives.
Please refer 3 of your friends today and forward this important message to 5 of your friends right now . Your voice must be heard on this issue.
When the Constitution says, “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed,” it means no one—including the UN—can infringe upon that right.
UN treaties do not trump the Constitution.  And with your help, we will make that message clear to President Obama and this administration.

Texas AG to Obama: Ratify UN arms treaty and I’ll sue

Posted April 3, 2013

If President Obama signs the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty approved today and the Senate ratifies it, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbot will sue, he told Obama in a letter today.

“The Arms Trade Treaty agreed to today by the United Nations (UN) is a threat to Americans’ Constitutional liberty,” Abbott wrote. “I urge you to reject that treaty. If you sign it, and if the U.S. Senate ratifies the treaty, Texas will lead the charge to have the treaty overturned in court as a violation of the U.S. Constitution.”

The UN General Assembly approved the treaty by a 154-3 vote, according to the Associated Press. The treaty regulates international arms trade with the intent of keeping guns out of the hands of terrorists, but critics like Abbott say it paves the way for international law to trump U.S. citizens’ constitutionally protected rights.

Want to See What CSCOPE and Common Core (Even Homeschooling) Lessons Look Like? These Parents Opened Up to TheBlaze

Posted April 3, 2013

As a greater level of scrutiny is being placed on the controversial curriculum systems CSCOPE (in Texas) and Common Core Standards (nationwide), concerned parents spoke to TheBlaze about their troubling experiences, revealing that not even home-schooling is beyond the reach of these encroaching systems.

Home-schooling not beyond the reach of Common Core?

Keven Card, a former Marine from Houston who has home-schooled his children for the last six years, thought his family was safe from the reach of Common Core, but soon learned otherwise. As noted on his blog, two years ago Pearson Education, which is linked to Common Core, acquired Texas Connections Academy, the online charter school Card uses to homeschool his ninth-grader.

One lesson plan featured a video dubbed, ”China Rises,” that appears to tout the virtues of Communism over capitalism.

Rick Perry: GOP Governors Will 'Rue' Approving Medicare Expansions

Posted April 3, 2013

During a Monday press conference, Governor Rick Perry (R-TX) withstood pressure from Democrats and some Republicans to back down from his opposition to a Medicare expansion under Obamacare.

“It would benefit no one in our state to see their taxes skyrocket and our economy crushed as our budget crumbled under the weight of oppressive Medicaid costs,” said Perry.

With the nation’s largest uninsured population in the U.S., Texas would receive an estimated $90 billion in federal funding over the next ten years under the Obamacare provision.

At last month’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Perry affirmed his commitment to providing lasting healthcare to low-income Texans.

“We care about our poorest Texans,” said Perry.  “We want them to have the best care possible, and that cannot happen with a program that is on its way to bankruptcy.”

While some GOP governors who oppose Obamacare have decided to move forward with expanding Medicare eligibility, Perry says that is a mistake and that they will “come to rue the day, because Medicaid will take a larger and larger share of their state budgets.”

Perry, who ran for the Republican presidential nomination last cycle, has not ruled out a 2016 bid for the White House.
