Cardenas: Christie Not Invited to CPAC for Slamming Republicans, Expanding Medicaid

Posted March 1, 2013

Al Cardenas, the head of the American Conservative Union (ACU), said New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie was not invited to this year's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) because he criticized Republicans and governed like a Democrat.

Cardenas, on Wednesday, said his group, which runs CPAC, left Christie off of the CPAC list because Christie criticized Republicans in Congress who wanted to take the pork out of the the Hurricane Sandy relief bill last year and agreed to expand Medicaid under Obamacare. Christie, much to the anger and chagrin of Republicans, literally embraced President Barack Obama in Sandy's wake, allowing the mainstream media to frame Obama as a bipartisan politician, which they had been trying to do throughout the 2012 campaign.

Obama Sequester

The President Who Cried Wolf

Posted March 1, 2013 - by George Rodriguez

While President Obama is lobbying the public to stop the Sequestration, he forgets that it is his law. It was passed by Congress and he signed it in 2011 at the height of the “raising the debt limit” debates.

Sequestration was Obama’s idea and recommendation because he was not willing to honor any of the “reduced spending” recommendations from Simpson-Bowles committee. He convinced certain Republican House members to raise the debt ceiling in exchange for more time to debate on how to reduce spending and what should be cut.

However, in this law there are specific items like a $500 billion reduction in the Defense Department budget which is a “Republican sacred budget cow” in addition to others. Apparently, Obama felt safe that the Sequester would never happen and he played political “chicken” with House Republicans.

Since 2011, Obama has continued to show his bad faith by not proposing meaningful spending cuts, and we have had one legislative crisis after another including “the fiscal cliff” drama last December. In the meantime, some GOP House members have caved to Obama by raising taxes and getting very little in spending cuts, by agreeing to avoid the Fiscal cliff, and by deferring to March 1st 2013 the issue of Sequestration.

NOW Obama is again playing “chicken” and he does not want to reduce spending unless House Republicans raise taxes or eliminate more deductions on the “rich” which will ultimately affect the middle class.

Arkansas Senate overrides veto of abortion bill

Posted March 1, 2013

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas became the eighth state Thursday to enact a near-ban on abortions starting in the 20th week of pregnancy, and by next week it could outlaw most procedures from the 12th week onward, which would give it the most restrictive abortion laws in the country.

The Republican-led Senate voted 19-14 along party lines to override Democratic Gov. Mike Beebe's veto of a bill barring most abortions starting in the 20th week of pregnancy that was based on the disputed notion that a fetus can feel pain by that point. The Arkansas House voted to override the veto Wednesday. A simple majority was needed in each chamber.

That law, which took effect immediately but which will likely be challenged in court, includes exemptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother.

Senate President Michael Lamoureux, R-Russellville, voted to override the veto, but later told reporters he wasn't sure the new law would survive a constitutional challenge.

GOP Trying to Put an End to Obama's Welfare Waivers

Posted March 1, 2013

So, remember last summer when the Obama administration unveiled its new plans to completely change requirements to receive welfare, yeah well Republicans are finally taking up efforts again to put a stop to it. This policy “allows states to apply for waivers under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, or welfare reform, in order to test new ways to increase employment among welfare recipients.” In essence, that means that a state could make its way around the Welfare to Work policy. Welfare to work requires welfare recipients prove that they are making an effort to find work in order to receive benefits.

With the Obama policy revealed last year, states would be able to, in essence, allow people to mooch from the system. States would be able to count activities such as bed resting or journaling as work, and therefore granting them welfare benefits. The House voted to block it when it was first introduced, but the Senate failed to do so and therefore the efforts went nowhere.

Collapse of the Dollar

Collapse of the Dollar – Only one “party” can speak the truth

Lee Cary 02-28-2013

The Tea Party is the only political movement in America that can tell the truth about the coming end of the US dollar’s (USD) role as the world’s reserve currency.

Will it? And if so, how will it?

Both Democrat and Republican Party leaders know the truth, but, to date, neither has leveled with the American people; nor offered an explanation of the transition underway; nor reviewed the known and unknown consequences.

For their part, the media, across the ideological spectrum, runs from one fiscal puppet show to another, choreographed by the Obama regime, featuring the budget crisis du mois. It’s an odd drama since we have no federal budget these days beyond Continuing Resolutions (CR’s).

All the while, the irreversible path to the USD’s demise as the world’s reserve currency advances, with increasing speed.

2014 Midterm Surprise

Is the Tea Party alert to a midterm Democrat surprise?

Lee Cary 02-27-2013

Will the Tea Party be ready to respond to an unexpected Democrat challenge to the G.O.P.’s hopes of keeping the House?

On the G.O.P. side, between today and the 2014 elections, what’s likely to change?

Will John Boehner be replaced by a new Speaker? Say, Paul Ryan? There’s nothing now to suggest that’ll happen.

If G.O.P. fund-raising efforts are tepid moving toward ‘14, that could increase the pressure for a new House Speaker, but the decibel level of any talk of that happening is inaudible.

By ’14, will a new Republican Party leader emerge from the Senate, or a Governor’s Mansion, and become the leading challenger for the Presidency?

That’s unlikely.  For one thing, it could cause that candidate to peak too soon and, by the ‘16 election, become old news, having been beat up by the liberal media.  And Americans, many with the attention span of hummingbirds, don’t like old news and bruised candidates. Particularly Republicans.

American Student Punished for Refusing to Recite Mexican Pledge

Posted March 1, 2013

A Texas high school student has filed a federal lawsuit against her school and her teachers after she was punished for refusing to salute and recite the Mexican pledge of allegiance.

The Thomas More Law Center filed the suit on behalf of Brenda Brinsdon alleging the McAllen Independent School District violated the 15-year-old girl’s constitutional rights when she was forced to recite the Mexican pledge and sing the Mexican national anthem.

Click here to read the lawsuit.

Brinsdon, who is the daughter of a Mexican immigrant and an American father, refused. She believed it was un-American to pledge a loyalty oath to another country.

Ironically, the school district has a policy that prohibits a school from compelling students to recite the American Pledge of Allegiance.

The district also has a written policy that excuses students from reciting text from the Declaration of Independence if the student “as determined by the district, has a conscientious objection to the recitation.”

Take ActionFor those who would like to express your opinion to the school district, please call James Ponce, Superintendent of Schools for the McAllen, Texas Independent School District at (956) 618-6027 or the Main Switchboard at (956) 618-6000. Or via email to james.ponce@mcallenisd.net.

Indoctrination? Houston Public School Assembly Slams Bush and Heaps Praise on Obama (Update: District Apologizes)

Posted March 1, 2013

The Katherine Smith Elementary School in Houston held an assembly on Tuesday. The program — which was forwarded to Houston radio host Joe Pags — was innocently titled, “A Dream Come True – Living in the present by remembering the past and looking forward to the future.”

According to the program, the show featured three cast members — one student acting as a speaker and two as Michelle and Barack Obama, and students singing seven songs. As you might expect from the title of the show, and the image below (also from the cover page), most of the songs are a salute to civil rights heroes like Rosa Parks and Dr. Matin Luther King, Jr. But there is also considerable adoration heaped upon President Obama.

Rotten to the Core, Part III: Lessons from Texas and the Growing Grassroots Revolt

Posted March 1, 2013

Texas is a right-minded red state, where patriotism is still a virtue and political correctness is out of vogue. So how on earth have left-wing educators in public classrooms been allowed to instruct Lone Star students to dress in Islamic garb, call the 9/11 jihadists "freedom fighters" and treat the Boston Tea Party participants as "terrorists"?

Here's the dirty little secret: Despite the best efforts of vigilant parents, teachers and administrators committed to academic excellence, progressive activists reign supreme in government schools.

That's because curriculum is king. The liberal monopoly on the modern textbook/curricular market remains unchallenged after a half-century. He who controls the textbooks, teaching guides and tests controls the academic agenda.

That is how the propagandistic outfitting of students in Islamic garb came to pass in the unlikely setting of the conservative Lumberton, Texas, school district. As Fox News reporter Todd Starnes noted this week, a 32-year veteran of the high school led a world geography lesson on Islam in which hijab-wrapped students were banned from using the words "suicide bomber" and "terrorist" to describe Muslim mass murderers in favor of the term "freedom fighter."

Madelyn LeBlanc, one of the students in the class, "told Fox News that it was clear her teacher was very uncomfortable lecturing the students. 'I do have a lot of sympathy for her. ... At the very beginning, she said she didn't want to teach it, but it was in the curriculum.'"

AUSTIN, TEXAS - Today, Rep. Matt Krause filed H.B. 1930, which creates the Fiscal Risk Management Commission (FRMC). This commission would be comprised of elected officials and members of the public and be tasked with the assessment of, and planning for, a wide spectrum of potential economic threats to the state of Texas.

"Other states have already begun to take the initiative by studying and creating long-term contingency plans to protect their credit ratings, economies, and the delivery of fundamental government services," said Rep. Matt Krause. "With an unyielding $16 trillion debt, it is apparent that our federal government is fundamentally incapable of solving this crisis. If you look at the current uncertainty in D.C. with the
sequester, and before that the fiscal cliff, and before that the debt ceiling, it's clear Texas needs to step up and take a leadership role in our citizens' economic security."

The FRMC would study all possible economic threats to Texas, including:

1. Significant reduction or elimination of federal funds on delivery of critical services and the state budget;
2. Effect of political or market-led default on state economy;
3. Impact of devaluation of U.S. Dollar and loss of reserve currency status on Texas;
4. Advisability and practicability of developing a contingency currency for Texas;
5. Risks presented by acts of economic terrorism (i.e. energy embargo) on Texas;
6. Any other macroeconomic threat to Texas FRMC considers appropriate.

Three steps: How the Dems plan to make Texas a battleground state by 2016

Posted February 27, 2013

On Tuesday morning, the Democrats launched an independent group called Battleground Texas, which is capable of making the Lone Star state a battleground by 2016 and a lean-Democrat state by 2024, effectively breaking the back of the national GOP and blocking a Republican path to the White House.

Yes — that Texas: The state that has not elected a single statewide Democratic official in 10 years, with Republicans going 100-0; the state that has had an entirely Republican government since 2002, with current super majorities in the legislature; and the state that hasn't voted for a Democratic president since Jimmy Carter in 1976.

History aside, if neither party lifts a finger to change current trends, the demographic changes taking place in Texas will — by themselves — seal it as blue by around 2040. The Democrats, however, plan to lift more than a finger; and if they play their cards right, they could speed the process up by 25 years, putting Texas in play much sooner.
