Tea partyers fight for right-thinking GOP; electability vs. principle at issue

Posted February 25, 2013

Amy Kremer, Tea Party Express chairwoman, said Mr. Rove’s effort threatens to “water down the brand” because he is willing to support “RINOs” (“Republican In Name Only”) as long as it edges the party closer to a majority.

Mrs. Kremer said she would rather have had Christine O’Donnell stick to her principles and lose her 2010 Senate race in Delaware to Democrat Christopher A. Coons than to have had Rep. Mike Castle, a moderate, win it.

“He is willing to sacrifice principle for power, and we are not going to sacrifice on that,” Mrs. Kremer said. “There are Republicans that are just as responsible as Democrats are for this out-of-control spending, and we need people who are willing to rein it in.”

Ted Cruz Responds to ‘New McCarthy’ New Yorker Article: ‘Curious’ They Would ‘Dredge Up a 3-Year-Old Speech & Call it News’

Posted February 25, 2013

Sen. Ted Cruz’s office told TheBlaze it was “curious” that the New Yorker would dig up a years-old speech for the purpose of dubbing him “our new McCarthy.”

Nevertheless, Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said the Texas Republican’s “substantive point” about Harvard Law School being home to Communists “was absolutely correct.”

Cruz, the New Yorker reported, said in a 2010 speech that President Barack Obama “would have made a perfect president of Harvard Law School” because “there were fewer declared Republicans in the faculty when we were there than Communists! There was one Republican. But there were 12 who would say they were Marxists who believed in the Communists overthrowing the United States government.” Cruz attended Harvard Law after Obama.

“It’s curious that the New Yorker would dredge up a three-year-old speech and call it ‘news,’” Frazier said in a statement to TheBlaze late Friday. “Regardless, Senator Cruz’s substantive point was absolutely correct: in the mid-1990s, the Harvard Law School faculty included numerous self-described proponents of ‘critical legal studies’ — a school of thought explicitly derived from Marxism – and they far outnumbered Republicans.”

Koch Brothers Want to Know Why Their Money Was Wasted

Posted February 25, 2013

(TP911 Editor's note: from the left's point of view.)

The massive amount of outside political spending unleashed by Citizens United did not, as feared, make it easier for rich people to buy an election. Instead, it showed that rich people are pretty dumb about politics. Take the billionaire businessmen Charles and David Koch who are spending their 2013 figuring out why they the money they spent in 2012 was such a waste. They have already fired most of their 100 staffers at Americans for Prosperity, and they're now conducting an audit.

Like American Crossroads and the Republican National Committee, the Koch brothers are trying to figure out why they couldn't beat President Obama -- and several Democratic Senate candidates in red states. The Kochs have delayed their twice-a-year meetings with big conservative donors until they've finished their audit, Politico's Kenneth P. Vogel reports. The results of the audit will be presented at an April seminar, Vogel writes, adding, "Early indications suggest that they'll continue playing in politics but will tweak their approach to reflect 2012 lessons."

Blueprint NC: How A Shadowy Left-Wing Hydra Plans A Targeted Attack On NC Republicans

Posted February 25, 2013

Blueprint NC - Organizations

On Thursday, the Charlotte Observer ran a story about a leaked confidential memo released by a below-the-radar shadow group called Blueprint NC. The confidential memo revealed a left-wing plan to attack North Carolina’s governor and other conservative leaders.

According to the Observer’s piece, the confidential memo was from Bluepint NC’s Communications Coordinator Stephanie Bass and addressed to its “partner groups.”

As part of a two-year plan to “Eviscerate, Mitigate, Litigate, Cogitate, and Agitate,” the memo outlines a strategy to target Republican Governor Pat McRory and other conservative leaders:

What the Constitution’s Supremacy Clause really means

Posted February 25, 2013

In an op-ed published in The Daily Caller on February 23, Gregg Re repeats the all-too-common understanding that the overrated Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution makes the federal government supreme in virtually anything it wishes to do. That Gregg would hold such an opinion is no big surprise. It’s what he and most everyone else were taught in high school. Fortunately, I have learned since high school that this view of the Supremacy Clause is not only wrong; it is dangerous to people and to individual liberty.

Let's begin here: It is perhaps the most basic premise of our American system of political philosophy that all political power is vested in and derived from individual people. We surrender some of our personal political power to government so that it can do things for us in common that we could not do as well individually. The most critical word here is "some." We do not surrender all of our personal political power to government, for that would render us slaves.

Beretta To Bolt Maryland If Dem Governor’s Anti-Gun Bill Passes…

Posted February 25, 2013

On the production floor of Beretta USA sits a hulking new barrel-making machine ready to churn out the next object of obsession in America’s love-hate relationship with guns: a civilian version of a machine gun designed for special operations forces and popularized in the video game Call of Duty.

Beretta, the nearly 500-year-old family-owned company that made one of James Bond’s firearms, has already invested more than $1 million in the machine and has planned to expand its plant further in Prince George’s County to ramp up production.

But under an assault-weapons ban that advanced late last week in the Maryland General Assembly, experts say the gun would be illegal in the state where it is produced.

New York Army Vet Facing 7 Years in Prison Over Empty Ammo Magazines

Posted February 25, 2013

An Army veteran in New York is facing up to seven years in prison for possessing five empty 30-round ammunition magazines.

Nate Haddad told WGRZ-TV he was parked on a road last month waiting to meet someone interested in buying them off him when police approached. According to the station, the magazines were for an AR-15 rifle, the same type of weapon Haddad once carried in combat. Magazines over 10 rounds have been illegal in New York since 1994, unless they were manufactured before the law went into effect. Haddad says he thought his were legal, until he found out otherwise.

“I certainly did not think I was committing a felony crime by having these,” Haddad told WGRZ. “My understanding of what I had in my possession was that it was manufactured before 1994, but the arresting officers told me otherwise after I showed them the magazines that I had in my possession.”

John Boehner's Wall Street Journal Op-ed Failed

[Exclusive] Posted February 23, 2013 - By Lee Cary

When Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner wrote an op-ed piece for the Wall Street Journal he backed himself into a corner. Yet again.

Here’s his first paragraph:

A week from now, a dramatic new federal policy is set to go into effect that threatens U.S. national security, thousands of jobs and more. In a bit of irony, President Obama stood Tuesday with first responders who could lose their jobs if the policy goes into effect. Most Americans are just hearing about this Washington creation for the first time: the sequester. What they might not realize from Mr. Obama's statements is that it is a product of the president's own failed leadership.”

This piece is a tactical error by the G.O.P. leader who has, on repeated occasions, demonstrated an astonishing lack of 360° political awareness.

TEXAS STUDENTS IN BURQAS

Posted February 25, 2013

If you live in a Texas School district that uses a curriculum called Cscope I would highly advice you to get involved  if you cherish American Freedom,  even if you have no school age children. I was shocked to find out that over 70% of Texas Schools are using Cscope. Cscope is all about Social Engineering there are no absolute truths. It has been discovered that Cscope is pro Islamic , anti Christian and is based on a Marxist/Communist Philosophy. One example has High School students drawing a new communist flag.  One lesson has the teacher passing out verses of the Quran to the students. Cscope has outside oversight as  to what is in the curriculum.

Let Texans Help Decide the next Presidential Primary Winners

Posted February 23, 2013

Recently, Sen. Dan Patrick filed Senate Bill 452 (see press release) to move the Texas Primary to the 1st Tuesday of February.  "For far too long the race for President has been all but decided by the time Texans get a chance to cast their ballot," said Patrick. "SB 452 will ensure that Texas will now be a leading voice in determining who will lead our country."

So far, Austin has not heard from voters regarding this important bill; therefore, they do not think this issue matters. This could not be further from the truth.  We need your help to get this bill passed by contacting your State Senator and State Representative, no matter their party, and urge them to support moving the Texas Primary - SB 452

Ten shocking lessons a huge Texas conglomerate has foisted on public school students

Posted February 22, 2013

CSCOPE is the acronym-sounding name — that is not actually an acronym — for the oft-criticized, all-embracing K-12 educational curriculum that is used in 80 percent of the school districts in .

“CSCOPE’s high quality curriculum, assessment, and instructional components assist schools in meeting the high standard of rigor and relevance” ostensibly required by various assessments administered by the Lone Star State, touts the nonprofit entity’s website.

Most — though not all — of the critics of CSCOPE are politically conservative. They charge that the controversial curriculum is a radical, backdoor way for progressives to circumvent both the Texas legislative process and the desires of local school boards and communities. They also charge that the creators of the curriculum operate secretly and do not make it easy for parents or even school board members to see the material.

Heidi Thiess Second Amendment Rights

Heidi Thiess on Why A Local Resolution to Preserve Second Amendment Rights

Posted February 22, 2013

I’ve been asked, “Why bother filing a resolution to preserve the Second Amendment at the local level?” My reply is that local municipalities and counties are having to handle the issue on a daily basis while our state and federal officials dither and haggle. And we shouldn’t shrink from doing so.

The free exercise of the Second Amendment is an inalienable right and fundamental to our way of life. There is no elected official at any level of government who should avoid  taking a stand on this issue. Anything less than the strongest possible statement to affirm our Constitution is an abdication of their oath of office. The oath of office we public representatives have sworn is very clear about our duty to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.
