Graham: A National I.D. Card ‘Is the Public’s Way of Contributing’

Posted February 22, 2013

Having profoundly failed to enforce federal immigration law for the past several decades, the federal government is now angling to use the immigration debate as a means to accentuate its own power.  The Wall Street Journal reports that Senator Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.), among others, supports a national biometric I.D. card, calling it “the public’s way of contributing to solving the problem” of illegal immigration.

The Journal writes that “at least five of the eight senators writing the [immigration] bill”— Graham, Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.), John McCain (R., Ariz.), Dick Durbin (D., Ill.), and Jeff Flake (R., Ariz.) — “have backed biometric ID cards in the past.”  What’s more, Graham, Schumer, and McCain “have said they support requiring the cards under the new law.”

Monopoly Man Broke

"We're Not Broke"

Posted February 22, 2013
by Terrell AronSpeer

"We're Not Broke."  The words washed over me like a wave of relief. These words had to be believed because they came from the Oracle of Iowa, Senator Tom Harkin. Tom Harkinonomics  Of course he has never created any wealth, but he is an expert at spending it. He actually says, "We, as a nation, are not broke." This is a meaningful distinction. We will get to that in a moment. In this context he also says, "We are now the richest nation in the world." He then says, we do not have a spending problem; to quote he says, "Do we have a spending problem? No." He continues, "We have a misallocation of wealth." Although this sounds like the usual mindless blather we have come to expect from the left, it is much, much more and every conservative needs to understand what has been revealed in these statements. This could be one of the most meaningful pieces I write about the left and so I pray for guidance. Their core will be revealed and you will come to understand the left in a way which will allow you to deal with them effectively. You may even get an answer to the nagging question, "What’s wrong with them?"  Please proceed.

Florida Tea parties invite gunmakers to move south

Posted February 22, 2013

Citing a business-friendly climate, low corporate tax rates and balmy weather, the Florida Tea Party Alliance (FLAlliance) has invited Magpul and other firms within the firearms industry to relocate to the Gunshine State.

Magpul, which began in 1999 by making plastic base plates for AR mags so they were easier to pull  from an ammo pouch, (Mag-Pull) and now makes nearly everything a tactical shooter would want, including a high-impact case for an iPhone 5, is based in Colorado.

The firm has put Colorado state lawmakers on notice that if anti-gun legislation is signed into law, they will move their entire operation and three parts suppliers out of the state. Four anti-gun bills, including a 15-round magazine restriction, passed the Colorado house earlier this week.

Texas, South Carolina and Idaho are also trying to woo the multi-million dollar firm.

Did Rush Limbaugh just launch a Tea Party revival effort?

Posted February 22, 2013

Limbaugh criticized the "fear and panic" prompted by both parties together with the media each time there were any proposed spending cuts.

"I've said the same things over and over for 25 years," Limbaugh said, adding that it didn't matter who was in power. "It's the same stuff, it's the same threats, it's the same arguments, over and over nothing ever changes."
"We just keep spending more money, we create more dependency, we get more and more irresponsible one crisis to the next, all of them manufactured," Limbaugh added. "Except for the real crisis that nobody ever addresses and that is we can't afford it."

Limbaugh's comments reflect a common Tea Party frustration not only with Democrats but also with Republicans. Stop spending all the money. Stop creating false panics every time someone proposes cuts in government spending. And stop spending more money than you did the year before.

A similar frustration boiled over was when Rick Santelli gave his speech heard around the world calling for a new Tea Party. That rant was almost exactly four years ago, on February 19, 2009.

Ferdinand Johann Gottlieb Lassalle Constitution

The roots of the Right vs. Left Debate over the Constitution

Posted February 22, 2013
by Lee Cary

The American political Left and Right have fundamentally different mindsets concerning the U.S. Constitution.

The Democrat Party has largely adopted the Left’s mindset.  They’ve captured the party.

The mindset of the Republican Party oscillates between soft-Left and soft-Right positions, rendering its image as being…Moderate.  Or, to some of us, Fuzzy, at best.

The Left’s mindset surfaced early with the German socialist activist who’s credited with initiating the international-expression of socialism:  Ferdinand Johann Gottlieb Lassalle (1825-1864).

Firearms Company Striking Back At Anti-Gun NY By Cancelling All Orders For NYPD

Posted February 22, 2013

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Gov. Andrew Cuomo are perhaps the two most anti-gun people in the entire nation.  They have been responsible for the passage of the strictest gun control laws in the nation.  If Bloomberg had his way, no private citizen would be allowed to own a firearm, period and he is using his billions of dollars towards achieving that goal.

The new gun control laws in New York are so strict that Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott used state funds to run ads in New York City and Albany telling New York gun owners to move to Texas where their Second Amendment rights are protected by the state.

Now, one firearms company, York Arms is also taking action against the unconstitutional violation of the Second Amendment rights of every New York resident.  Located in Buxton, Maine, York Arms specializes in custom firearms and gunsmithing.  Among their clientele is the New York City Police Department.  However, that’s one client that the company is willing to give up because of the city and state’s gun control laws.

Ted Cruz a Lifeline for the Conservative Party?

Posted February 22, 2013

HOUSTON -- Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is one of the few Republicans these days described as a potential "rock star" for the party. As a freshman, he is already starting to shake things up in Washington.

So, what makes this Lone Star lawmaker tick?

Ten shocking lessons a huge Texas conglomerate has foisted on public school students

Posted February 22, 2013

CSCOPE is the acronym-sounding name — that is not actually an acronym — for the oft-criticized, all-embracing K-12 educational curriculum that is used in 80 percent of the school districts in .

“CSCOPE’s high quality curriculum, assessment, and instructional components assist schools in meeting the high standard of rigor and relevance” ostensibly required by various assessments administered by the Lone Star State, touts the nonprofit entity’s website.

Most — though not all — of the critics of CSCOPE are politically conservative. They charge that the controversial curriculum is a radical, backdoor way for progressives to circumvent both the Texas legislative process and the desires of local school boards and communities. They also charge that the creators of the curriculum operate secretly and do not make it easy for parents or even school board members to see the material.

Heidi Thiess Second Amendment Rights

Heidi Thiess on Why A Local Resolution to Preserve Second Amendment Rights

Posted February 22, 2013

I’ve been asked, “Why bother filing a resolution to preserve the Second Amendment at the local level?” My reply is that local municipalities and counties are having to handle the issue on a daily basis while our state and federal officials dither and haggle. And we shouldn’t shrink from doing so.

The free exercise of the Second Amendment is an inalienable right and fundamental to our way of life. There is no elected official at any level of government who should avoid  taking a stand on this issue. Anything less than the strongest possible statement to affirm our Constitution is an abdication of their oath of office. The oath of office we public representatives have sworn is very clear about our duty to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.

U.S. Gov't 'Cancer' Research: Tobacco Industry's ‘Astroturfing’ Helped Create Tea Party

Posted February 22, 2013

(CNSNews.com) - In a study published online on Feb. 8 by the journal Tobacco Control, researchers from the University of California at San Francisco--using taxpayer funding from the National Cancer Institute--argued that the tobacco industry helped create the Tea Party Movement through a process the researchers called “astroturfing.”
“Rather than being purely a grassroots movement, the Tea Party has been influenced by decades of astroturfing by tobacco and other corporate interests to develop a grassroots network to support their corporate agendas, even though their members may not support those agendas,” said the researchers.

Teacher accused of racism after pouring pencil shavings into student’s mouth

Posted February 22, 2013

A group has filed a federal civil rights complaint on behalf of a Texas woman who claims that a teacher dumped pencil shavings into her eighth-grade son’s mouth as he was napping comfortably at the back of the Boles Junior High School classroom in Arlington.

The Texas Southern Christian Leadership Conference made the filing Wednesday through the U.S. Department of Education on behalf of Deidre Brown and 13-year-old Marquis Jay, reports the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The unnamed teacher was briefly suspended after the incident originally occurred in January, CBS News reports. A formal reprimand was also issued. She had been back on the job since. However, the Star-Telegram suggests that she is back on paid administrative leave in the wake of this new legal twist.

Conservative Leaders Defend Sen. Ted Cruz for Rocking the Boat

Posted February 21, 2013

(CNSNews.com) – Conservative leaders are voicing their support for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) after the freshman senator came under fire from some Senate colleagues and liberal pundits for his tough questioning of Secretary of Defense nominee Chuck Hagel, criticism that included equating Cruz with the late anti-communist Senator Joe McCarthy (R-Wisc.)

“Senator Ted Cruz came to Washington to advance conservative policies, not play by the same old rules that have relegated conservatives, and their ideas, to the back bench,” Michael Needham, president of the influential Heritage Action said on Tuesday. “It should come as absolutely no surprise the Washington Establishment – be it the liberal media, entrenched special interests or even wayward Republicans – are now attacking him in the press for following through on his promises.”

Frank Cannon, president of the American Principles Project, said: “It’s about time someone annoyed those who have been complacent in doing what is necessary to get the country back on track.  We applaud Senator Ted Cruz’s dedication to conservative principles and being an articulate spokesman for those principles.  We are pleased he is shaking up Washington and doing exactly what the people of Texas elected him to do.”
