Karl Rove 'The Architect'

A current beckons the Texas Tea Party Movement

Posted February 7, 2013
Lee Cary

The Texas Tea Party defies Karl Rove and establishment Republicans and suggests a possible primary challenge to Senator John Cornyn.

There is a tide in the affairs of men.
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures.

(Julius Caesar, Act 4, Scene 3)

The Tea Party movement in Texas is afloat on a full sea of political affairs, one that encompasses the nation, and must take the current and back a challenger to the re-election of incumbent Republican Senator John Cornyn in 2014.

A Tea Party Response to Karl Rove's Appearance on 'Hannity'

Posted February 7, 2013 - by Jenny Beth Martin

Rove mentioned that they raised and spent over $300 million. While this is true, when you consider their track record, they wasted the money. Perhaps it is time for Rove's donors to donate to organizations who can produce a ground game to compete with the left.

The Tea Party did this in 2010, in the Wisconsin recall in 2012, and we did it in Washington state in 2012. For the first time in years, in a state the establishment deemed as unwinnable in 2012, the Washington State Senate is being run by a Republican conference rather than the Democrats.

That happened because of the Tea Party ground game. Rather than spend hundreds of millions of dollars on useless TV ads that only tear down the opponent, in Washington we articulated a conservative message that draws voters to our cause. That’s what conservatives have always been about, winning the hearts and minds with a winning message of personal freedom, fiscal responsibility, and limited government.

Rove Aide Calls Bozell 'Hater' with 'Weird Axes to Grind'

Posted February 7, 2013

When given the opportunity to rebut the sharp criticism leveled Tuesday by Brent Bozell directed at Karl Rove, Jonathan Collegio of Rove's American Crossroads might have made things worse, if not personal.  "Bozell is a hater and he also has a long sordid history hating Karl Rove.  He has weird personal axes to grind," said the spokesman for Rove's influential Super PAC.

Collegio's appearance on "Mornings on the Mall" on WMAL-FM in Washington DC, was in response to Bozell's interview Tuesday where the chairman of ForAmerica, took great issue with the initiative started by Rove and Steven Law, also from American Crossroads that was reported by the New York Times Sunday.

Bozell Pushes Back Hard Against Rove War On Tea Party

Brent Bozell, Chairman of ForAmerica, a conservative political action committee, is not very pleased with Karl Rove and his plan to campaign against GOP candidates whom he deems "unelectable" due to their tea party connections.

Posted February 6, 2013

Bozell joined me and co-host Brian Wilson on WMAL-FM's "Mornings on the Mall" Tuesday morning to push back against Rove's plan.  He was particularly annoyed at Rove and partner Steven Law invoking William F. Buckley's famous rule: "Support the most conservative candidate who is electable."  Bozell has a unique perspective on Rove's use of the Buckley Rule considering he is the late conservative icon's nephew.

Listen as he hammers Rove and details his belief that the real reason behind recent Republican losses is the attempt to nominate "electable" moderate, non-conservatives:

Rove: 'I Don't Want a Fight'

Posted February 6, 2013

This was a different argument than the one presented by Rove and American Crossroads in the New York Times article. Hannity questioned Rove about that – and Rove responded by stating, “It was written by the New York Times!,” implying that the Times had skewed the reporting. That, of course, does not answer why American Crossroads or Rove went to the New York Times to leak the story in the first place.

“You’ve seen the reaction of Tea Party groups,” Hannity pressed, “and my friend Mark Levin was excoriating you on radio yesterday. I look at the Tea Party movement, and I consider myself a Tea Party conservative -- Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Tim Scott, Deb Fischer, Mike Lee, Ron Johnson, Pat Toomey – there are instances there … Specter was chosen by the establishment over Toomey.” Rove answered that he had supported Specter when he was the incumbent, but got behind Toomey in 2009 personally.

“This is not Tea Party versus establishment,” said Rove. “I don’t want a fight.”

Editor's note: "It's a little late for that Karl."

Senator Ted Cruz is asking for your help.

Please submit your thoughts for Sen.Cruz and the committee to consider in the form of a formal letter to the committee which makes either a pro 2nd Amendment argument or a tells a short, compelling, personal story about how you exercised your 2nd Amendment rights in a positive way, such as in defense of yourself, your family, your business, or how you scared off a robber.

Please submit your stories and statements in MS Word, well-written and clear. Then send as an attachment to the email address of Senator Cruz's staff below.

Statements must be received by Monday in order to be helpful. Your statement could be submitted into the Congressional Record.

Texas Senator Cruz would like to be ready to respond in kind.

Our Grassroots America Executive Director JoAnn Fleming will send in a formal statement on behalf of our organization; however, Senator Ted Cruz needs help from all of you to help him battle back those who will keep working until they make gun ownership and the Second Amendment toxic.  They will work overtime to shame Americans into silence.  We will resist.

Please share this email with any and all Texans who have a story to tell.

TURF Lobby Day at the Capitol

Posted February 7, 2013

Begins: Tuesday, March 12 2013 at 9:00 AM
Location: Texas State Capitol
110 Congress Avenue
Austin, TX 78701

Concerned citizens from across the state will gather in Austin to interact with lawmakers on transportation-related issues. We've seen a reliance on tolls, handing control of our public roads to private corporations that charge oppressively high toll rates, and unsustinable debt sweep the state, with more to come unless we make our voices heard.

This is a day when CITIZEN lobbyists come to the Capitol to advocate on what matters to grassroots Texans -- like getting a pro-taxpayer transportation policy in place this session.

We have lots of activities planned - a press conference, being recognized from the House and Senate floor, attending key committee hearings, speaking to legislators, and also hearing from lawmakers after lunch.

We need a HUGE crowd to show up to talk to legislators about transportation. There are already some very bad proposals being pushed by the leadership (more debt, more tolls), and without a grassroots revolt, it'll sail through without a whimper of opposition. Plan to come and work to get others to join you.

If you're interested in coordinating a carpool, contact Terri Hall at terri_2@commonsensecitizens.net or at (210) 275-0640.

If you will be attending this event please RSVP by visting this link ATTENDING

The Unconventional Ted Cruz

Posted February 6, 2013

Ted Cruz (R., Texas) has been a United States senator for only 34 days, but already he is making his mark on national politics. His conspicuous presence and aggressive tone have thrilled his conservative cheerleaders, while inducing fits of rage in liberal detractors and Joe Scarborough.

In the past week alone, Cruz has tangled with veteran Democratic spin-master Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) on Meet the Press, sent a tongue-in-cheek letter to Mayor Rahm Emanuel of Chicago, introduced legislation to fully repeal Obamacare, and recorded “no” votes on major items, including Hurricane Sandy relief, raising the debt ceiling, filibuster reform, and the confirmation of John Kerry for secretary of state. He also made headlines with his aggressive interrogation of prospective defense secretary Chuck Hagel.
