Walmart to Limit Ammo Purchases, Citing Shortages

Posted January 31, 2013

Walmart, one of the nation’s leading sites for ammunition and gun sales, has caved in to pressure from the leftist media, limiting ammunition sales per customer. According to a Walmart spokesperson, customers will be restricted to purchasing three boxes per day thanks to supply shortages. “In order to take care of as many customers as possible … all ammunition sales were limited to three boxes per customer, per day as supply is limited at this time.”

Walmart has been working with Nanny State Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his group against guns, and is a signatory to the Responsible Firearms Retailer Partnership code of conduct.

Obama Recovery Hits Time Inc.: 500 Layoffs Announced

Posted January 31, 2013

But-but-but "Time Magazine" assured me Obama's economic policies had made it all better:

The Wall Street Journal said that around 500 people will be cut from the world's largest magazine company -- home to Time, Sports Illustrated and People, among others -- though other outlets said the numbers could reach as high as 700. That means that the roughly 8,000-strong workforce would be cut by between 6 and 8 percent.

Israeli airstrike in Syria targets arms convoy

Posted January 31, 2013

JERUSALEM - Israeli warplanes carried out a strike deep inside Syrian territory on Wednesday, American officials reported, saying they believed the target was a convoy carrying sophisticated antiaircraft weaponry on the outskirts of Damascus that was intended for the Hezbollah Shiite militia in Lebanon.

The American officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said Israel had notified the United States about the attack, which the Syrian government condemned as an act of "arrogance and aggression."

Israel's move demonstrated its determination to ensure that Hezbollah - its arch foe in the north - is unable to take advantage of the chaos in Syria to bolster its arsenal significantly.

Democrats Scramble to Blame GDP Plunge on Republicans

Posted January 31, 2013

In an attempt to get out in front of startling GDP contraction, Democrats are scrambling to blame the unanticipated growth plunge on spending cuts, not President Barack Obama's trillions in federal spending that have accelerated the need for tightening the nation's fiscal belt.

Last quarter, the U.S. economy grew at 3.1%. On Wednesday, the Commerce Department announced that the economy experienced negative growth in the fourth quarter of 2012 by -0.1%. By comparison, China’s fourth quarter GDP was up 7.9%.

ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN mum on FBI raid of doctor office tied to Menendez

Posted January 31, 2013

If a doctor suspected of providing free trips and underage Dominican Republic prostitutes to a prominent ranking Democratic senator has his West Palm Beach, Fla. offices raided by the FBI, but it’s not picked up by ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC or CNN — did it really happen?

With exception of the local West Palm Beach ABC, CBS and NBC affiliates, this latest chapter in the long-standing controversy involving New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez has gone unreported by those outlets, according to a search of TVEyes media monitoring services conducted by The Daily Caller.

Restore America

Restoring America’s Birthright

January 30, 2013 by Robert Snizek

The “birthright” of every man, woman, and child born on American soil is liberty.  This gift was given by God by virtue of our birth, established through the Founding Fathers, and nourished by the blood of patriots.  In these times, what  can those who love liberty do to reverse the erosion of freedom in America?

One of the first things (if not the first thing) we can do is to educate ourselves about the founding of our nation and the origin of our birthright(s).  Then, we need to teach those correct principles of liberty to our families and neighbors, being careful to provide the historical context that justifies our freedoms.  And finally, as a result, in a day when serious economic troubles will inevitably come to America, those who love liberty will be able to stand firm in safeguarding and preserving freedom against those who would transform it. “What Difference Does it Make?”

01-28-2013 Terrell AronSpeer

In what seems like a few short decades, Hillary Clinton has dragged Democrats from, “I have a dream” to, “What difference does it make?”  To Democrats, all questions are rhetorical.  All you need to do is actually provide an answer to set them back on their heels.  Hillary tried to substitute outrage and indignation for reasoned argument.  She is not the first Democrat to do this and I suspect she will not be the last.  Questioned in front of a congressional committee as to how the administration came to so blatantly mischaracterize the incident in Benghazi, Libya, Hillary said, “What difference does it make?”  Perhaps I can shed some light on this vexing question.

Toth Files Bill for Oversight on Curiculum

Posted January 31, 2013

By Brad Meyer

In light of technological advances, a number of elected officials are concerned about the review and approval process for online and cloud-based teaching materials.

State Representative Steve Toth, R-The Woodlands, in a joint effort with other law makers, filed HB760 Monday – a measure designed to insure that digital curriculum materials used in public schools falls under the oversight and approval of the State Board of Education.

Toth stated that many of his constituents have a growing concern over the lack of accountability for the Texas Education Service Center Curriculum Collaborative, known as CSCOPE, and because digital materials are not subjected to the same rigorous standards as is conventionally printed material in books.

CCRKBA applauds Sen. Cruz for blasting Emanuel’s anti-2A tactics

Posted January 31, 2013

BELLEVUE, WA – The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today congratulated Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) for a letter he sent to bank officials and two major firearms manufacturers that blasts the strong arm tactics of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who is pressuring the banks to cut off lines of credit to gun makers.

In his letter to officials at Bank of America and TC Bank, and the CEOs of Sturm, and Smith & Wesson, Sen. Cruz observed, “We (in Texas) do not accept the notion that government officials should behave like bullies, trying to harass or pressure private companies into enlisting in a political lobbying campaign.” He sent a copy of the letter to Mayor Emanuel.

“We really appreciate Sen. Cruz for weighing in on this controversy,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, who issued a blistering critique of Emanuel’s demagoguery earlier Tuesday. “He’s got the kind of backbone one expects of a Texan, and he’s drawn a line in the sand that’s every bit as bold as the one Col. Travis drew at the Alamo.”

Democratic Consultant Thinks Hobby Lobby Gives 1/4 of All Revenue to Texas

Jason Stanford mischaracterizes the financial impact of HB 649

Posted January 31, 2013

Austin, TX—Monday evening, Jason Stanford, a Democrat political consultant, put his complete lack of public policy competence on display for all Texans to see. In a television debate against Jonathan Saenz of Texas Values regarding Rep. Jonathan Stickland’s HB 649—a bill to protect Hobby Lobby and other Christian Businesses from federal tax penalties related to Obamacare—Stanford attempted to claim that exempting Hobby Lobby under the act from state taxes would result in billions of lost tax revenue.

"The false statements Stanford made in his debate are almost too many to address,” commented Stickland. “But his comical projection of Texas' tax receipts from Hobby Lobby are hard to overlook.”

During the television debate, which aired on Fox 7 in Austin, Stanford claimed, “This (bill) would reimburse Hobby Lobby, an Oklahoma corporation, from my money and his money for, like, $1.3 million a day.  Over an entire budget, a two year budget, you know what that costs Texas? A billion dollars."

Hobby Lobby has been front–and–center in a fight against the federal government over mandates included in the Affordable Care Act, often called “Obamacare,” which would require businesses to provide insurance coverage for the “morning–after pill” and week–after pill.” Hobby Lobby has refused to comply with the mandate, citing the owners’ religious objection to abortion, and faces tax penalties of up to $1.3 million per day. Hobby Lobby is challenging the tax penalties in court, arguing that the mandate and the penalties threaten the religious liberty of Hobby Lobby’s owners.

Contrary to Stanford’s assertions, HB 649, filed by Stickland, would exempt Hobby Lobby and other businesses in their situation from sales taxes and business margins taxes collected by the state of Texas. While the total amount of state taxes exempted is difficult to ascertain due to privacy protections, it is far less than the amount of federal tax penalties prescribed under the act.

“As a Democrat, Stanford might want Texas to take 25 cents of every dollar Hobby Lobby brings in nationwide, but thankfully we can’t and we don’t," stated Stickland. “HB 649 would exempt Hobby Lobby and other businesses hit with federal tax penalties under Obamacare from in-state taxes we would normally collect. The Obama administration has offered religious businesses a stark choice: submit to our will or go out of business. If we don’t do something to relieve them we are going to lose their tax revenue anyway; the outrageous tax-penalties will ensure it.”

“This issue is all about protecting religious liberty,” said Stickland. “As Hobby Lobby and other businesses stand strong against religious oppression at the hands of the federal government, it would simply be wrong for our state to chop at their ankles with additional taxes.  That’s why I filed HB 649 and why I’m asking for the support of Texans and my colleagues.”

Questions & Answers About Texas Independence

Posted January 30, 2013

There are many questions regarding Texas independence that come up often and need to be addressed in order to separate fact from fiction. The Texas Nationalist Movement led by Daniel Miller has put together a compilation of those questions and the answers to them and we will be posting them here for your convenience.

Is secession legal?

It is not illegal to withdraw from membership in the Union as no law exists which makes it illegal nor could one exist and be congruent with the fundamental construction of the Union. Were secession of a state from the United States declared illegal it would so fundamentally alter the nature of the relationship of the states that the very act of doing so would serve to end the Union.

More FAQs at the Texas Nationalist Movement.
