How politicians are planning the return of taxation without representation

Posted January 30, 2013

It’s been nearly 250 years since the king passed his Stamp Act to pay for all that royal spending, and nearly 240 years since gramps found that generally Intolerable and sent the British running. But the issue is not dead. On the contrary, legislators are again actively attempting to pass what is effectively taxation without representation, and far from being a distant king in England, the villains today are both Democratic and Republican lawmakers from Washington to Tennessee.

SEIU Official Convicted of Embezzlement, Faces 180 Years

Posted January 30, 2013

Former SEIU local president Tyrone Freeman has been convicted of embezzling from the low-wage employees he once represented. He now faces a maximum of 180 years in prison.

Freeman was considered a rising star in the SEIU. As president of Local 6434, a statewide affiliate of the SEIU representing homecare workers, Freeman represented more than 150,000 union members. Many of the employees who make up Local 6434 make just $9 an hour, but Freeman was making $200,000 a year.

Restore America

Restoring America’s Birthright

January 30, 2013 by Robert Snizek

The “birthright” of every man, woman, and child born on American soil is liberty.  This gift was given by God by virtue of our birth, established through the Founding Fathers, and nourished by the blood of patriots.  In these times, what  can those who love liberty do to reverse the erosion of freedom in America?

One of the first things (if not the first thing) we can do is to educate ourselves about the founding of our nation and the origin of our birthright(s).  Then, we need to teach those correct principles of liberty to our families and neighbors, being careful to provide the historical context that justifies our freedoms.  And finally, as a result, in a day when serious economic troubles will inevitably come to America, those who love liberty will be able to stand firm in safeguarding and preserving freedom against those who would transform it. Update from True the Vote

Posted January 30, 2013

Dear Friend,

We're locked in a high-stakes footrace with the vote fraudsters and we're falling behind!

These thieves are getting more sophisticated in their election-stealing tactics every year. If we don't catch up, they're going to run away with our country!

Donate to True the VoteThat's why True the Vote has taken a bold next step.

Right now, we're ready to put the final touches on a groundbreaking new voter fraud prevention tool called "Did I Vote?". This unprecedented technology won't just let us catch up to the vote fraudsters -- it'll knock them out of the race completely!

But to finish this groundbreaking project, I'm going to need your help.

You see, we're still in the final stages of developing "Did I Vote?" and our plan is to make it available to citizens nationwide at no cost.
But, to follow through on that goal, we're going to have to raise $50,000 as soon as possible.

Would you consider making a generous contribution of $10, $25, $35, $50, or whatever you can afford right now to help us finish this important project?

The Political Gospel of Pain

by Glenn Fairman - American Thinker

Experience, C.S. Lewis tells us, is "that most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my God do you learn."

I have been getting more than a few e-mails as of late whose gist runs in the vein of intense dissatisfaction at what has occurred since November. It seems that many a patriot has gone to his house, locked and pulled shut the blinds and is awaiting that cattle car ride to the district FEMA camp. Many have eschewed the news like a plague and have instead opted for an intellectually diabetic diet of "Storage Wars" and "Pawn Stars." It is hard to fault them as such. Even I must admit that seeing Obama reciting the oath on Lincoln's bible was the equivalent of Antiochus Epiphanes sacrificing a pig on the Holy altar of the Second Temple, although here I may not be quite guilty of hyperbole. It is horrendous to see that which one loves given over to swine. Read more...

“What Difference Does it Make?”

01-28-2013 Terrell AronSpeer

In what seems like a few short decades, Hillary Clinton has dragged Democrats from, “I have a dream” to, “What difference does it make?”  To Democrats, all questions are rhetorical.  All you need to do is actually provide an answer to set them back on their heels.  Hillary tried to substitute outrage and indignation for reasoned argument.  She is not the first Democrat to do this and I suspect she will not be the last.  Questioned in front of a congressional committee as to how the administration came to so blatantly mischaracterize the incident in Benghazi, Libya, Hillary said, “What difference does it make?”  Perhaps I can shed some light on this vexing question.

Perry solicits ideas for tax relief, grassroots say nix toll taxes

Posted January 30, 2013 ~ by Terri Hall

In his State of the State speech today, Texas Governor Rick Perry asked Texans how they'd like to see tax relief implemented in the current legislative session. Texans Uniting for Reform and Freedom (TURF) and other taxpayer groups called for eliminating toll taxes and using our existing road taxes, currently being diverted to other purposes, to expand our freeways without tolls. The Governor's web site, http://www.gov.texas.gov has no option for toll tax relief.

Perry did announce his support for ending gas tax diversions for non-road purposes. Ending diversions is part of the Governor's truth in taxation plank in his Budget Compact, which means taxes collected for a certain purpose should go only to that purpose. Perry's leadership to end gas tax diversions, estimated to be $1.3 billion per biennium, is much needed and very helpful. But that alone isn't sufficient to properly fund our state highways without higher taxes -- tolls.

Pres. Obama Ruling Texas?

Posted January 30, 2013
by Wayne Christian

There are so many traditional values, fiscal and moral, under attack that those of us in opposition to leadership find ourselves either running in multiple directions or chasing the “decoy” while our opposition makes changes to all the remaining.  Hand it to him, our President is brilliant at throwing out a single (though very important) issue such as gun rights, and while we all are fighting against this constitutional anchor, he smiles and continues to rebuild our economy, health care system, military, international relations, and more!

Before I get “bombed” by many, I am a lifetime NRA member with my CHL license and am proud of my Christmas gifted S&W with the laser beam!   However, I still believe it will be a cold day in “you know where” when they pry the guns from Texas.  The Texas State Rifle Association does a great job and any politician who wants to vote against gun rights, pretty well “bids farewell” to their job.  In fact, if the most absolutely unbelievable circumstance were to occur and our Texas House and Senate both pass any ban on guns, please remember, it was Governor Perry who shot the coyote while jogging with his CHL sidearm.  Bet he’d shoot any such bill with his CHL veto pen just as quickly.

The Texas Firearms Coalition

A Voice for Texas Gun Owners

Posted January 30, 2013

The mission of Texas Firearms Coalition (TFC) can be summed up in two words: Education, and Advocacy.  The educational goal is to provide seminars and other training opportunities to Member and non-members in the form of live seminars, podcasts and webinars. The subjects covered will expand as requests are received to add additional subject matter that comes within the scope of the overall TFC mission.

TFC advocacy is broad based and includes everything from public appearances, interviews on radio, television and newspapers, and legislative efforts of interest to Texas gun owners. TFC President Charles L. Cotton is a Member of the Board of Directors of the National Rifle Association and he is frequently interviewed concerning firearms-related matters, especially when an event makes the headline news. His evaluation and response to these incidents is a key element in advocating on behalf of law-abiding, responsible gun owners.

Sen. Ted Cruz to House GOP: ‘Stop Reading The New York Times'

Posted January 30, 2013

(CNSNews.com) – Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has a message for House Republicans: “Stop reading the New York Times.”

Speaking Saturday at the conservative National Review Institute summit, Cruz said, “Let me give three concrete bits of advice to conservatives in Washington, and in particular let me address this to our friends in the House of Representatives, who I think for the next two years are the last bastion standing between us and oblivion,” the freshman senator told a gathering of conservatives at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.

“The first thing I would urge to every Republican in the House of Representatives is stop reading the New York Times,” he said.  “Cancel your subscription.”

Questions & Answers About Texas Independence

Posted January 30, 2013

There are many questions regarding Texas independence that come up often and need to be addressed in order to separate fact from fiction. The Texas Nationalist Movement led by Daniel Miller has put together a compilation of those questions and the answers to them and we will be posting them here for your convenience.

Is secession legal?

It is not illegal to withdraw from membership in the Union as no law exists which makes it illegal nor could one exist and be congruent with the fundamental construction of the Union. Were secession of a state from the United States declared illegal it would so fundamentally alter the nature of the relationship of the states that the very act of doing so would serve to end the Union.

More FAQs at the Texas Nationalist Movement.
