Rand Paul to outline ‘constitutional conservative’ foreign policy

January 29, 2013

Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul will deliver a wide-ranging foreign policy address at the Heritage Foundation next Tuesday, marking the tea party lawmaker’s latest foray into international affairs.

“At this lecture, Senator Rand Paul will discuss his vision of a foreign policy that respects the plain language of our Constitution, the legal powers of Congress and the important role of a strong presidency,” the invitation says. “It will stress the need for maintaining the strongest national defense among nations while also questioning what constitutes actual ‘defense.’”

Sheriff David Clarke Jr.: Skip 911, defend yourself

The Hippocritic Oaths

Posted January 29, 2013

This morning I heard Rand Paul, the Junior Senator from Kentucky, deliver an angry message to his colleagues. The subject was their failure to obey their own rules. He mentioned their failure to pass a budget in nearly four years. But his outrage was really triggered when he received a six hundred page bill to be voted on later that day. It contained some last minute provisions that nobody but Harry Reid is aware of---to the extent that Harry is aware of anything but his own vast ego and lust for power.

It contained copious references to the more than a hundred million word document known as Federal Register and other mega documents containing the codified laws of the United States. These get amended every time new laws or regulations pass, often in unpredictable ways. There is zero chance that there are not filled with massive errors and unintended provisions.  It is likely that the total word count exceeds a billion.

No Senator could possibly understand the bill in much under a month. Read more...

Official Lies

January 29, 2013 by Walter E. Williams

Let's expose presidential prevarication. Earlier this year, President Barack Obama warned that Social Security checks will be delayed if Congress fails to increase the government's borrowing authority by raising the debt ceiling. However, there's an issue with this warning.

According to the 2012 Social Security trustees report, assets in Social Security's trust funds totaled $2.7 trillion, and Social Security expenditures totaled $773 billion. Therefore, regardless of what Congress does about the debt limit, Social Security recipients are guaranteed their checks. Just take the money from the $2.7 trillion assets held in trust.

Which is the lie, Social Security checks must be delayed if the debt ceiling is not raised or there's $2.7 trillion in the Social Security trust funds? The fact of the matter is that they are both lies.

“What Difference Does it Make?”

01-28-2013 Terrell AronSpeer

In what seems like a few short decades, Hillary Clinton has dragged Democrats from, “I have a dream” to, “What difference does it make?”  To Democrats, all questions are rhetorical.  All you need to do is actually provide an answer to set them back on their heels.  Hillary tried to substitute outrage and indignation for reasoned argument.  She is not the first Democrat to do this and I suspect she will not be the last.  Questioned in front of a congressional committee as to how the administration came to so blatantly mischaracterize the incident in Benghazi, Libya, Hillary said, “What difference does it make?”  Perhaps I can shed some light on this vexing question.

Obama: DC Appeals Court NLRB Ruling Has No Impact

Posted January 28, 2013

Mark Gaston Pearce, chairman of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), issued a statement on Friday in response to the decision of a federal Appeals Court that held that President Obama’s three appointments to the NLRB, while the Senate was in session, are unconstitutional, and that all actions taken by these appointees are invalid.

Pearce’s statement is as follows:

The Board respectfully disagrees with today’s decision and believes that the President’s position in the matter will ultimately be upheld. It should be noted that this order applies to only one specific case, Noel Canning, and that similar questions have been raised in more than a dozen cases pending in other courts of appeals.
In the meantime, the Board has important work to do. The parties who come to us seek and expect careful consideration and resolution of their cases, and for that reason, we will continue to perform our statutory duties and issue decisions.

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz Statement on Immigration Reform Proposal

Posted January 29, 2013

WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) issued the following statement regarding today’s bipartisan immigration reform proposal:
I appreciate the good work that senators in both parties have put into trying to fix our broken immigration system. There are some good elements in this proposal, especially increasing the resources and manpower to secure our border and also improving and streamlining legal immigration. However, I have deep concerns with the proposed path to citizenship. To allow those who came here illegally to be placed on such a path is both inconsistent with rule of law and profoundly unfair to the millions of legal immigrants who waited years, if not decades, to come to America legally.

Truncated State Senate terms Yield Grassroots Opportunities

January 29, 2013 by Mark Stuertz  of  White Rock Tea Party

A state senate term glitch wrought by the 2010 census provides an opening for grassroots activists in 2014. Now A state senate term glitch wrought by the 2010 census provides an opening for grassroots activists in 2014. Now is the time to seize this opportunity.

In spite of staggered elections and terms that normally span four years, all Texas State Senators were up for reelection last year due to redistricting. All 31 senate districts are redrawn every ten years to reflect population shifts per the census.

That’s why senators were forced to seal their fates via lottery: a white envelope drawn from a punch bowl. Each envelope contained a capsule with a number from 1 through 31. Last Wednesday Texas senators drew envelopes.

Those drawing even numbers were awarded two-year terms and are up for reelection in 2014. Those with odd numbers were blessed with the traditional four-year terms.

Questions & Answers About Texas Independence

Posted January 29, 2013

There are many questions regarding Texas independence that come up often and need to be addressed in order to separate fact from fiction. The Texas Nationalist Movement led by Daniel Miller has put together a compilation of those questions and the answers to them and we will be posting them here for your convenience.

Does Texas have a secession clause in its annexation agreement?

No. There is no explicit clause in the Joint Resolution of Annexation stating that Texas has a special right of secession. It is an understood right given to all states when they joined the Union.

Some Texas Legislators Being Duped

by Donna Garner - Posted January 29, 2013

I hate to say it, but some of our Texas Legislators are being duped! They want to delay/stop the new STAAR/End-of-Course tests from being implemented into our public schools.  These duped Legislators do not realize that if they want our public schools to teach what all students need to know, then the STAAR/EOC’s must continue as scheduled.

Texas has chosen to remain independent of the Obama administration’s takeover of the public schools through the Common Core Standards/Race to the Top.  Even though 45 states and D. C. signed on to the CCS, Texas did not. Read more...
