Pro-gun activists flood US state capitals defending right to bear arms (PHOTOS)

Re-Posted January 21, 2013

Pro-gun rallies have been held across the US demanding the White House curb its sweeping new gun-control proposals and to defend the second amendment of the constitution.

Thousands of protestors took to the streets across the US, after a massive social-media grass roots initiative called “Guns Across America,” called on Americans to defend the right to bear arms guaranteed by the second amendment of the constitution.

Bill Clinton: Gun Control Push Bringing Back the Tea Party

Posted January 21, 2013

Drunk on the power they weld in the Senate and the White House, Democrats have once again underestimated to the passions of the common man and stand at the threshold of sparking a grassroots extravaganza that will sweep them out of power in 2014.
Speaking to Democrat donors from the business world, Clinton said of gun owners: "A lot of these people live in a world very different from the world lived in by the [politicians] proposing these [gun control measures]." He went to intimate that these worlds are increasingly in conflict, and that the gun control push could be setting Democrats up for a long fall with a hard landing.
Clinton warned that gun owners cannot be "patronized" and that it's a mistake to "[look] down your nose at them."
As he spoke, it was clear that Clinton thinks Obama may be overplaying his hand, giving birth to a reinvigorated Tea Party movement that is already diminishing votes for Democrats in 2014. In hopes of stopping this momentum shift, Clinton warned that the tactics Obama used to win in southern states like Florida has to be employed now, as "that's the only way [Democrats] will ever be able to even up votes in the midterms as [issues like guns] come up."

Hundreds of Second Amendment advocates join pro-gun rallies in U.S. capitals

Re-Posted January 21, 2013

Gun owners carried signs reading "An Armed Society is a Polite Society" and "The Second Amendment Comes from God" as they protested recent gun restrictions. Republican Assemblyman Steven McLaughlin told a crowd in Albany that New York's new law was an "abuse of power" by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

In the brave new world of the very near future, children will enter their public schools passing police checkpoints, surveillance cameras, metal detectors, X-ray scanners and warrantless physical searches. Parents will relax, knowing their child is now “SAFE.” No violent evil doers will be able to get past that wall of security.

But what none of the checkpoints, scanners and cameras will detect is the child who walks right past, armed to the teeth with a hidden weapon actually enforced on him by the school itself. The weapon comes in many names and varieties: Ritlin, Luvox, Prozac, Zoloft, Cymbalta, Paxil, and more.

1,000 Defenders of 2nd Amendment Rally at Connecticut State Capitol

About 1,000 defenders of the Second Amendment gathered at the Connecticut state Capitol in Hartford on Saturday to urge lawmakers to protect their right to bear arms as provided in the U.S. Constitution.

Re-Posted January 21, 2013

The rally was part of a national effort on Saturday to respond to legislative attempts, at both the federal and state level, to tighten gun laws in the wake of the shooting massacre at Sandy Hill School in Newtown, CT.

Ohioans Sideline Sale of Ohio Turnpike

January 21, 2013 by Terri Hall

In a victory for state sovereignty, property rights, and taxpayers, the grassroots managed to defeat Ohio Governor John Kasich’s proposal of selling off the Ohio Turnpike to a private toll operator using a controversial public private partnership (P3). The state officially pulled the plug on the P3, announcing the turnpike would stay public but the state will issue bonds backed by future toll revenues to generate needed cash. Kasich considered the turnpike an ‘unused asset’ that he could sell-off for a half century to get $3 billion now for other road projects. But Ohioans had a different opinion.

Reload: Second Amendment Rallies Highlight Conservative Potential in Obama's Second Term

January 21, 2013

Thousands rallied across the nation yesterday in support of Second Amendment rights, and conservatives were reminded that Barack Obama’s second term presents a unique opportunity to rebuild. Our principles of individual liberty and constitutional government may be a minority creed, but they are still the best principles to have. Even liberals find them compelling--when they are not hypnotized by the Obama cult of personality.

The conservative movement should aim high. Its long-term political goal should be to achieve what Republicans never have done, and Democrats have enjoyed several times: a filibuster-proof majority. The only way to restore the nation's original constitutional vision, and to renew its rapid economic growth and global leadership, is to push those changes through. The left is not shy about coveting such power; neither should we be.

NY STATE ASSEMBLYMAN SOUNDS THE ALARM: Democrats' First Gun Bill Ordered Confiscation of Firearms!

Posted January 20, 2013

This bill was an attack on the 2nd amendment and the Democrats clearly wanted to dismantle the work of the Founding Fathers. None of these amendments were included in the final bill thanks to us fighting back. I will not stand silent while these unpatriotic proposals are pathetically thrown at us a 11 o’clock at night:

1. Confiscation of "assault weapons"
2. Confiscation [of] ten round clips
3. Statewide database for ALL Guns

I Second That Amendment

Posted January 20, 2013

After ordering that “Congress shall make no law” with respect to the freedom of speech and religion, the Founders set forth in our nation’s Second Amendment that “…the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” The Founders were so concerned about one of history’s lessons--the one that says unchecked governments, sooner or later, will tread on individual liberty--that they felt the absolute need to give people a means by which to defend themselves from their own government by bearing arms.
President Obama and countless others on the left mock this historical reality, but the truth is that tyranny still exists today and sometimes it re-emerges when you least expect it.

West Point center cites dangers of 'far right' in U.S.

Re-Posted January 20, 2013

A West Point think tank has issued a paper warning America about "far right" groups such as the "anti-federalist" movement, which supports "civil activism, individual freedoms and self-government."

The report issued this week by the Combating Terrorism Center at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., is titled "Challengers from the Sidelines: Understanding America's Violent Far-Right."

In the 1982 consent decree, the Republican Party made an agreement effectively barring the RNC from “engag[ing] and assist(ing) in voter fraud prevention unless the RNC obtains the court’s approval in advance.” They basically made an agreement with the Democratic Party NOT to ensure voting integrity and NOT to pursue suspected vote fraud.

More than 600 people gathered on the Texas Capitol grounds Saturday for a rally against President Barack Obama’s proposals to curb gun violence.

“I do hope you will call your politicians,” said state Rep. Steve Toth, R-The Woodlands, adding that the crowd should also reach out to their church pastors to get the pro-gun message out. “We don’t need more laws.”

TEXAS: Travis County Commissioners Retreat from Gun Show Ban After Stern Warning from Attorney General Greg Abbott and Input from Gun Owners

Posted January 21, 2013

Thanks to the flood of calls and e-mails from NRA members and a warning from Texas’ pro-gun Attorney General Greg Abbott that they would almost certainly face legal action, the Travis County Commissioners voted unanimously on January 15 to back off their proposed ban on gun shows on county property.  In a knee-jerk response to a terrible tragedy that occurred thousands of miles away in a state with some of the most stringent gun control laws in the country, the Travis County Commissioners had considered a proposal to ban gun shows on public property and in public facilities, primarily at the Travis County Expo Center east of town. History and the Second Amendment

Posted January 20, 2013

In Colonial America, the British occupation army was charged with, among other things, enforcing the taxation of American colonials without their consent. As part of the occupation and enforcement of English tax laws, British troops were sent to Lexington and Concord to find and confiscate military supplies stored by the colonial militia.
When the founders drafted the Constitution and its amendments, the Boston Massacre and the reality of their own rulers taxing them without representation as well as confiscating the means to protect themselves were recent memory.
By 1910, many in Europe, Asia, and the Americas felt that their societies had reached a high point in culture and freedom, with their governments beginning to recognize and codify basic human rights and the rule of law, albeit at different levels. Yet a mere 50 years later, nascent democracies in Russia, Germany, Turkey, China, and Japan had all been overtaken by totalitarian dictatorships which institutionalized the killing of their own or conquered citizens at a scale unimaginable in 1910. Indeed, government sanctioned killing of unarmed civilians continued with the Killing Fields in Cambodia in the 1970’s to the mass murders in Srebrenica in the 1990’s.

Proposal for a United, National Convention of Patriots

Re-Posted January 20, 2013
by Jim Delaney on MinuteMenNews.com

Of late, there's been much more talk on conservative blogs about uniting and moving forward with more energy and effectiveness. While I am heartened by that sentiment, I am mindful that action always speaks louder than words.

We can do what we can to organize locally, as many of us have done, and to actively participate in the local political party machine to effect change from within, as some of us have also done, but that is simply NOT enough.

The major parties are powerful and influential precisely because they are well-coordinated and well-organized both locally and nationally. Thus, patriotic organizations' deliberately or unwittingly restricting themselves to localized activity and pontificating alone is inadequate.

The truth is we need to be organized both nationally AND locally. Otherwise, we will be less than credible or effective, membership and participation will continue to dissipate, and the country will further careen into oblivion.

If patriotic organizations remain splintered and parochial, we are doomed, as is our country. It's time for patriots to get very, VERY serious and much more activist. Learn from the Left. Read More...

Sen. Ted Cruz: Obama 'High on His Own Power'

Re-Posted January 20, 2013

On Thursday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said President Barack Obama is “high on his own power” and a “president who has drunk the Kool-Aid” in response to Obama’s gun control proposals.

"He is feeling right now high on his own power, and he is pushing on every front, on guns," Cruz said on an appearance of the "Laura Ingraham Show."
He also said "it's really sad to see the president of the United States exploiting the murder of children and using it to push his own extreme, anti-gun agenda."
