Why Tammy Blair is Running for Senate

 
 

After working diligently to ensure the election of conservative candidates in Austin in 2010, Tammy was dismayed when little was accomplished during the 82nd legislative session. In spite of a clear mandate by the people of Texas, the power elite failed to properly address issues of immigration reform, spending and budgeting, and state sovereignty with respect to federal usurpations of power or Agenda 21. They did not fail out of incompetence or ignorance, but out of sheer disregard for the proper role of government!

Life

As a proponent of Natural Law and the Constitution, I strongly support the first guarantee of the Declaration of Independence that states “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”. With that, I believe the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. I will work tirelessly to protect life from conception until natural death.

Budget /Economy

I believe in making a budget and sticking to it. I also believe that legislators should not be allowed to change accounting rules in an attempt to deceive the public into thinking that they are finally serious about spending and our unsustainable debt. (to suit them and their over-spending). I believe in free market capitalism. The people should be allowed to decide for themselves when, how, where and with whom to trade. Competition without government interference or subsidies is what drives innovation and success in business.

Civil Rights

The proper role of government is to defend the life, liberty and property of the people. I believe that all persons have civil rights that should be protected by the rule of law, and not via regulation or judicial activism.

Education

In regards to Education, each state should be able to decide education policy and standards without federal interference. The federal government should be limited and control should be returned to parents, teachers, and local communities. Parents should have the decision on which learning environment is most suited for their child. I support education choices for all families.

Our school districts must be able to recruit the “best of the best” when it comes to teachers and when those teachers are found, must have the ability to retain them without regard to bargaining agreements.

I am strongly against illegal aliens receiving preferential treatment or funding for school.

Environment

I believe in conservation and protecting our environment, but not at the expense of human beings. The environmental movement has been shown to be driven by political forces for the sake of control only. Taxing Americans and redistributing their wealth will in no way solve environmental problems our planet may have. We have allowed radical environmentalists and agencies like the EPA to run amuck, costing Texans jobs and freedoms.

Gun Control

I believe the 2nd Amendment, as well as all the rights guaranteed by it, allow citizens throughout the country to have firearms for uses of self-defense. I will resist any effort to infringe upon our right to bear arms.

Health Care

I believe that everyone has a right to be treated as humanely as possible, and this includes medical care. I will fight to protect Texans from Healthcare mandates, and to prevent Government from getting between the patient and the doctor.

Illegal Immigration

Protecting our borders is vital to the safety of our citizens. We must have support for local, state and federal law enforcement to work together in securing our borders. We MUST strengthen our Border Patrol to discourage and stop those crossing illegally, and we must equip them with the necessary tools to do their job effectively.

I support strong penalties for those who assist to smuggle illegal aliens into the country. Illegal immigrants are a drain on our economy and our entire system. I will work to end sanctuary cities.
