Eddie Northcutt for District Judge - Texas 8th Judicial District

Eddie Northcutt
Republican for District Judge of the 8th Judicial District of Texas

TEAParty911.com's founder, Michael Kinzie, today announced his endorsement of Eddie Northcutt for District Judge of the 8th Judicial District in Texas. Kinzie said of Northcutt, "If I had to sum up Eddie Northcutt with one word, it would be integrity."

Northcutt (R) faces Democrat candidate Clay Johnson for Judge of Texas' 8th Judicial District currently held by the well-respected Judge Robert Newsom. Judge Newsom is currently serving his 4th term, but has chosen not to seek re-election. The 8th Judicial District includes Delta, Franklin, Hopkins, and Rains counties.

Eddie and his wife Karen have been married over 28 years and have two sons, Charlie and Graham. Northcutt received his undergraduate degree from East Texas State University and graduated with honors from the SMU School of Law. In 2003, he opened his private law firm in Sulphur Springs.

As testimony to Northcutt's willingness to serve the community, he has been recognized by the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas for providing free services to those in the community unable to afford legal services. The Pro Bono College recognizes only those who have exceeded the 50-hour recommended pro bono minimum each year. Northcutt has also been recognized by The College of the State Bar of Texas, an honorary society of lawyers who are among the best trained attorneys in the state of Texas.

Kinzie concluded his statement with, "District judges normally deal with felony cases, but they also have jurisdiction over election contest cases and many other duties that most people are unaware of. For that reason, it is all the more important to have a principled, conservative judge with integrity seated behind the bench. I have no doubts that Eddie Northcutt will apply the law fairly, will uphold east Texas conservative values, and serve the community without an underlying agenda. When the bailiff says, 'All rise. The Honorable Judge Northcutt presiding,' it will be a true and accurate statement. That is why I wholeheartedly endorse Eddie Northcutt to be the next Judge of the 8th Judicial District for the great state of Texas."

About Eddie Northcutt

Eddie's varied work, educational, and legal experience has uniquely prepared him to serve as District Judge for the 8th District Court.

A strong work ethic is integral to what defines Eddie Northcutt. He got his first job at the age of 12 as a paperboy and has been working hard ever since. Eddie worked full time and went to school full time while in college, earning Dean’s and President’s list recognition along the way.

Eddie obtained an undergraduate degree from East Texas State University in Psychology and Counseling. He later graduated from SMU School of Law, where he graduated with honors while driving back and forth from Sulphur Springs for three years. Eddie’s educational background also includes studying at Dallas Bible College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Following his undergraduate studies, Eddie worked for four years in the mental health field as a case worker and later, department head. Following God’s call on his life, Eddie and his family moved to central Texas where he served as a minister to youth and senior adults. While continuing to work earnestly in the church as a lay leader, Eddie ultimately obtained his teaching certificate from Tarleton State University and taught 5th grade in Gustine and Miller Grove.

It was while teaching at Miller Grove in Hopkins County that Eddie and Karen sensed God’s continued guidance and Eddie applied to law school. This was a huge commitment in their lives, as Eddie was 33 years old with sons in the 3rd and 7th grade. God blessed their obedience in every area of their lives.

During and following law school, Eddie worked at McLeroy, Litzler, Rutherford, Bauer & Friday in Sulphur Springs, primarily in civil litigation and municipal law, including prosecution in two municipal courts.

In 2003, Eddie stepped out on faith and opened his own private law practice and has been blessed with a very fulfilling way to serve God and others. Over the past eight years, his practice has developed into mostly criminal and family law.

Recognizing that staying on top of recent developments in the law is crucial, Eddie goes far beyond what the State Bar of Texas requires in terms of continuing legal education. For his efforts in continued legal scholarship, Eddie was invited to join the College of the State Bar of Texas. The College is an honorary society of lawyers who are among the best trained attorneys in Texas. Members are qualified attorneys who are interested in both high ethical standards and improved training for all Texas attorneys.
