Rep. Bill Zedler Endorses David Simpson

"There is a need for a change in the way the House conducts business. David Simpson is the leader needed to change the culture of the House. Very few men would willingly give up their own power for the sake of creating a fairer environment for Representatives. David Simpson is that conservative leader." - Bill Zedler

About David Simpson

Republican State Representative for East Texas
David Simpson was grateful to be elected State Representative of House District 7 in 2010, defeating a seven-term incumbent, by running on a platform of defending the Constitution, preserving our East Texas family values, and restoring government to its proper, limited role. He was re-elected in 2012 by a large margin. District 7 is comprised of Gregg County and northern Smith County and includes the cities of Longview, Kilgore, White Oak, Gladewater, Liberty City, Lindale, Hideaway and Winona. However, after redistricting, District 7 will be comprised of the entirety of both Gregg and Upshur Counties.

In only one session, Simpson earned the “Taxpayer Champion” award from Texans for Fiscal Responsibility and the “Freshman of the Year” award from Young Conservatives of Texas; he was also named “Co-MVP of the Freshman Class” by Capitol Inside for his effectiveness as a legislator.

Representative David Simpson successfully fended off a challenge from former State Representative Tommy Merritt in the 2012 elections.

Congratulations Representative Simpson!

Introduced HB 297 Relating to certain federal health care legislation; imposing penalties

Introduced HB 246 Joined Rep. Eric Johnson (D-Dallas) as a co-author of HB 246 which promotes integrity among elected officials by requiring elected officials who are convicted of a felony such as bribery, embezzlement or perjury while in office to forfeit their state retirement benefits.

“There are other cuts that I believe should come before education such as corporate welfare.“

The $145 million cut from community colleges could be supplied by the $151 million in the Enterprise Fund.

We should also consider eliminating costly, burdensome, and unproductive state mandates such as 45 days of testing. I am in favor of granting each school district the freedom to determine how best to educate and test their children.

Tea Party Candidates Supported

TeaParty911.com salutes the “Texas 15” who stood on principle rather than politics in House Speaker race. Even though Straus was re-elected to the position of Texas Speaker of the House, the Representatives in this video demonstrated the courage to stand firm in the face of overwhelming odds. The courage to stand on principle is exactly what the Tea Party is all about and it is for that very reason that many Tea Party groups across Texas support these men and women.

“In whatever arena of life one may meet the challenge of courage, whatever may be the sacrifices he faces if he follows his conscience – the loss of his friends, his fortune, his contentment, even the esteem of his fellow men – each man must decide for himself the course he will follow. The stories of past courage can define that ingredient – they can teach, they can offer hope, they can provide inspiration. But they cannot supply courage itself. For this each man must look into his own soul.” - from Profiles in Courage
