Hughes defeated a primary challenge from Mary Lookadoo and is now looking beyond his sure win in November and has his sights set on unseating Joe Straus as the Speaker of the House in Texas. Hughes has gained wide-spread TEA Party support including national organizations such as FreedomWorks who is openly supporting Hughes for Speaker.
