Dallas County GOP calls for Caucus

Joe Straus vs. Matt Beebe

We lost the battle of getting Ken Paxton elected as the Texas Speaker of the House for the 82nd legislature, but that does not mean we have given up.

We now are working to not only prevent Joe Straus from becoming the Texas Speaker of the House for the 83rd legislature, but to prevent his re-election to the Texas House of Representatives.
TEAParty911.com founder, Michael Kinzie has endorsed Matt Beebe in HD-121 and we are all working hard to get Beebe elected to rid the House of Representatives of Joe Straus.

Dallas County GOP call for Caucus Vote in Texas House Speaker Race
January 3, 2011

Resolution Regarding the Selection of Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives
WHEREAS the 2010 elections resulted in a historic number of Republicans swept into office across the nation; and that the Texas House of Representatives (the “House”) constitutes a shining example of that Republican electoral sweep; and
WHEREAS this unprecedented success was based upon the people of the United States, and the state of Texas in particular, embracing a conservative approach to governance; and
WHEREAS, the primary function of the Dallas County Republican Party is to help elect candidates who embrace the principles articulated by the Republican Party of Texas Platform and to enact those principles legislatively; and
WHEREAS, the Dallas County Republican Party and hundreds of volunteers made significant contributions to the election and re-election of Republican members from Dallas County; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Dallas County Republican Party Executive Committee strongly urges the Republican members of the House to hold a special caucus meeting for selecting one conservative Republican candidate for Speaker of the House before the vote for Speaker of the House is commenced and selecting from among its Republican members a unified selection for Speaker of the House; be it further
RESOLVED that the Dallas County Republican Party Executive Committee calls for the release of all members of the House from any pledges, promises, or commitments made to support any candidate for the office of Speaker of the House so that a caucus for the purpose of selecting one Republican candidate for office of the Speaker of the House may be held; be it further
RESOLVED that the Dallas County Republican Party Executive Committee calls for each member of the Republican Caucus pledge to support the winner of this vote when the full assembly votes for Speaker of the House at the beginning of the new session; and be it also
RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be delivered by electronic mail to each Republican member and member-elect of the House from Dallas County.
ADOPTED by the Dallas County Republican Party Executive Committee on January 3, 2011.
